Washington DC Parking Nazis

So I went down to Washington DC just to play tourist for the afternoon and I parked my car near the washington monument. There was an area that said I could park up to 3 hours between from 8am to 4pm, and a bunch of other cars were there. There was no sign that said that I could not park there AFTER 4pm, nor was there any reason for me to believe that the 3 hour limit applied past 4pm. I parked around 3:30 pm and was walking around for about 3 hours. I came back around 6:30pm to find a parking ticket stuck under my wiper...and they want $100 for the fine.

BULLSHIT

First of all, there were a bunch of other cars parked there PAST 4pm with no tickets, and the time stamp on my ticket was 4:12pm, meaning that even if they were enforcing the 3 hour limit, I was well within that limit.

I have not been to DC in ages, and I have no plans or desire to return any time soon. Since I don't live in DC I'm leaning toward not paying it. It's pure bullshit. They signs on the side of the road were clear and I've just been victimized by some retard minimum-wage earning mouth breather who got to become a meter maid primarily for not being born as a caucasian. This really pisses me off. Anyone else NOT PAY bullshit parking tickets like this one? It doesn't seem like they'll do much if I don't pay...and a parking violation is not a "criminal offense" as a moving violation is considered...but $100. Come on. They can go fcuk themselves.

I once got a ticket for parking in front of a fire hydrant. There was no fire hydrant. It was a completely bullshit ticket, probably given out just to meet some kind of quota. Where I live, you can't renew your vehicle registration if you have outstanding tickets, so I was totally fucked and I had to pay it. I think it was $56.

If you never plan on going back to DC then why pay it? A guy I work with (Tennessee) was with a friend of his that got a massive speeding ticket in Mississippi and he never paid it and never went back to MS. They never came for him or anything, so you never know.

That's my plan. The back of the ticket says if I don't pay they may boot my car or tow it if I get 2 unpaid parking violations, but I don't live in DC so I don't give a shit. They can send it to a collections agency but I don't care about that either. This is a good example of criminal abuse of authority and it infuriates me to no end.

I guess I didn't read the fine print on the sign - oh wait, THERE IS NONE. Just like there is no sign that says no parking.

I take it you missed the part about my car being the only one there with a ticket? CLEARLY parking is allowed past 4pm and clearly the 3 hour time limit only applies 8am to 4pm. Seems to me like you're lacking in the common sense department. If there is some kind of unwritten rule about parking, all of the cars and not just mine should have been ticketed.

The ticket sucks but, not paying it could get your license suspended. I got stopped for 45 in a 35 while on vacation in Florida. I got the ticket at the beginning of a two week vacation and quite honestly, I forgot about it by the time I returned home. Six weeks later, I received a notice in the mail that my license was suspended.

A ticket is a moving violation and its generally considered a criminal offense, a parking violation is not. I can't see them suspending a license over parking tickets because they don't even verify that you receive the ticket. They just issue it and anyone could be driving the car. $100 fine is not happening for a place I'll never be parking in again.

Let's step through this one more time:

1) The 3 hour limit is up to 4pm.

2) My car was the only one among a whole row of cars that was ticketed. Not one other car had a ticket.

3) If there were no other cars there, your dull-witted attempt at seeming intelligent may actually have some weight...but no, that's not the case. The fact is that for some reason my car got singled out and was ticked at 12 minutes after 4pm when in fact I was well within reason to park there along with the 40-50 other cars.
