I'd also note that I've never understood the "red skin" term. I've known a few american Indians over the years and none of them have appeared the least bit red to me. Even the famous Indians like Liz Warren don't appear to the least bit red.

Anyway, I don't think the Redskins name was meant to be offensive when they chose it, but the term has taken on that connotation, and I think it should be changed.
I also think some of the statues (especially confederate ones) should be taken down and the military bases should be renamed. However, with all the other problems we have in the country right now (Covid, gun violence, unemployment, police violence, etc.) all the attention does seem a bit....overblown.

I mean, I'm part Cherokee, and I find it pretty offensive. Not enough to lose my shit over, but keep in mind that the native population in the US doesn't have that much of a voice anymore. Given that their lands were taken away, they were shuffled off into reservations, and basically given zero opportunities within their own nations, maybe it's not the worst idea to just not use racial slurs referencing them for our sportsball teams anymore.

Could go for some of the state symbols, Washington Mammoths would be pretty cool, or the Hemlocks. It could also be tasteful to take some word/phrase of importance from the Chinooks. I think that'd be better than just going with the Washington Chinooks or something. The Washington Chetwoots (black bears) wouldn't be too terrible, Oluks (Snakes) could work, or if someone insists on it being more 'manly', the Stones (testicles).
