Wassup with Newegg shipping?

If this is wrong forum sorry, I didn't know where to post this question.

Newegg's free shipping was always contributory to a 'hot deal".

Now, my last two Newegg orders where delivered by DHL more than 4 days ago to the US Postal Service in two different towns more than 50 miles from here. I'm still waiting for my orders. Normally, by now, I would have received them via UPS Ground.

Does this mean the end of the really fast UPS Ground delivery that we have become accustomed to? Is Newegg having $ problems such that they need to change their primary shipping relationships?

dhl has reduced alot of their areas that they service, so what DHL does is for those areas they do USPS

My 16GB Corsair flash drive was delivered this way; it arrived today and took about a week from CA.

I'm not sure what's worse; waiting a little longer for packages to be delivered via USPS or trusting UPS to get them here safely.

I doubt they're having $ problems. But they're in business to make money, and if they can increase their profits by changing shipping methods to help offset the current market situation I don't really blame them. As long as Newegg's pricing remains competitive, their customer service remains awesome, and my packages get here intact I probably won't complain too much. Of course, I say that now, but let's see what happens next time I'm anxiously awaiting a new component and it takes a few days longer than it used to.

I don't care if they strap my stuff on a old goat as long as it gets to my door in a reasonable time and doesn't cost me a Kings Ransom. But if Newegg is compromising shipping times by using DHL/USPS then that will be hard to swallow for everyone that is used to the '3 day order to delivery' service that they are accustomed to. That is one thing that has been very consistent over the years and one of the areas where Newegg has really excelled. Hopefully this won't compromise the Eggs usually terrific service.

I've noticed a little slip as well, I used to get stuff two days, sometimes the next day, now it's 3 days, but still when promised.

I just experienced this with my most recent order. I tried to track and I realized it was sent via DHL, I have been unable to track it and now it indicates UPS has it on www.newegg.com! WHAT GIVES! I for one am loyal as long as I am not hassled and this is a hassle.

I went back to look and I think this is what is happening.

I wonder if all these delayed shipping times started the same time they stopped charging sales tax in NY? :shocked:

They seem to be using EggSaver (DHL/USPS) for small, light items like ESET NOD32 disc and small memory cards and thumb drives. You can tell it's EggSaver on the product page when it says "Free 3-7 Business Day Shipping." I guess it's a lot cheaper to ship that way rather than 3 day UPS because of the weight and size.

The things i've gotten from this dhl smartmail are slow as hell. Stuff from newegg is taking roughly 14-20 days now to receive. Anything from woot.com (which is 150 miles from me) is taking about 10 days. It seems the issue is the dhl to post office hand off, there is like a 3-5 day of just sitting there.

Newegg has always been top notch in price, service and delivery. Looks like delivery just went south. Two out of three isn't bad, but it means I'm more inclined to check out other vendors when I order.....

The DHL to USPS hand-off is what irks me. DHL does indeed deliver to my house as I've been getting things from them for years, as late as two weeks ago. If Newegg are going to include USPS in the delivery scheme, (and one of my orders was shipped on the 24th of September then handed off to post office - still waiting for them to deliver), why don't they just use the USPS and by-pass DHL, if ultimately snail mail is how we are to get our orders, albeit small items.

My last order was sent via DHL/USPS but the arrival time wasn't too bad. Maybe an additional day. The site didn't say 3-day shipping anyway - only free shipping.
