Just buy a new discrete GPU and most preferable the R7 260X and above for mantle support and you should be fine for now, no need to spend another grand.

What monitor did you buy ??? if it is 1440p then you better get a high-end GPU like the R9 280 or 290.

Edit: I dont know how many days you have the PC but i would return it and get something else. This product is not performing as you were advised by the shop you got it.

This is what I would do, plus you already have a monitor and the most important question is what resolution is it ? I am assuming from its cost it's at least a 1080p screen ?

I have no idea why so many people are recommending you the 750/750ti with a $1000 budget. That is a crappy gaming card and way to weak for your budget.

For a $1000 you can get a 4670K, motherboard, 8GB RAM, SSD, PSU and a decent video card. There is no reason to be getting a POS like a 750ti, the card is nothing special beyond saving you a quarter a week on power bills while being mediocre performance wise.

For under $1000, $950, you can build a beast of a computer.

OP, follow my instructions for a better gaming life.

1: Turn your brain off (the more zombie like, the better. You're more likely to follow through)
2: Mindlessly click each link above, add to cart and purchase each part
3: Buy windows 8.1 from somewhere
4: Once all parts arrive, come back to this thread

Ready, set, GO!

I also think windows 8 is doing something to my gaming. I am afraid to upgrade to 8.1.
any suggestions.

I run tons of games both very new and very old. I've had zero issues with gaming under 8 or 8.1. That being said the new start menu interface is awful. Classic shell and it works like a charm

It honestly infuriates me to see Windows 8 constantly trashed online by people who have zero clue what they're talking about. It's honestly the best OS Microsoft has put out even with the crazy little metro interface (that you never interact with anyway). However, Windows Key + Typing what you want to use is your greatest ally. Launching apps has never been faster. To launch your favorite game simply hit Windows Key, Sky, Enter. It takes under 1 second to type, but you've already launched skyrim. It's much more efficient than the old, "Move mouse to start bar, to programs, to skyrim folder, to skyrim.exe"

That said OP, you have been given the BEST possible gaming machine listed above. Groove Riding did all the work for you, and moonbogg then quoted it AGAIN.

You can save even more cash by driving to your nearest MicroCenter to pick up the CPU, but based on this thread and the fact that you seem to know very little about PCs, I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

The GTX 770 in the link is perfect for that TV (1080p). Have you decided what you are going to do? Or are you still kind of dizzy and frustrated?

Hey bro I just want to build a pc. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

Just don't blindly blame Windows 8 for things. People seem to do it all over the internet. Windows 8 received a TON of hate from PC Elitists when it first came out because they refused to learn how to use it. I used it since Beta, first weeks were horrible. In fact, I regularly switched back to using VISTA, rather than run Windows 8. But once I figured out how quick it was to launch programs it's just so much more efficient than Vista or Windows 7.

That said:

Do this. It's the best thing you can do for yourself. And never go to bestbuy again lol. Unless it's to laugh at the last gen stuff they're usually carrying.

Thanks, but my pc has been having glitch problems with the games and so has my friend, we both have windows 8 and when he upgraded to windows 8.1 it glitched his games up even further more.

I will take up your offer on those builds.

alright guys tell me what you think of this build though.

http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1td9iy/build_complete_500_including_os_1080_ultra/

The video card in that reddit link will choke hard at 1080p. 1gb of ram is not enough. A point comes where you simply get what you pay for.
If you want a cheaper CPU, consider a build with the AMD XF series CPUs.
I stand by the links Groover provided. You can juggle build configurations all day long, but in the end $500 won't get you where I think you are trying to get.
Also, windows 8.1 improved my gaming performance big time moving from windows 7. Just saying.

Does Day Z really take that much of a hit on a 7850? I don't get it, I though the ARMA engine was pretty weak?

I have been playing skyrim and fallout new vegas. But New vegas is easy to run. Obviously, but Skyrim really pisses me off and Hawken and Most of those new games.... I want to be able to run that new game that is going to come out called Dying light...

Just get a new video card first just open the case and let us know how many watts your power supply is. Your system will run all the games you listed your video is just not up to speed.

It's not a Win8/8.1 issue .

I'm a gamer and use Win8.1 for gaming (build my own PCs too)which will give you DX11.2 down the road (unlike Win7 which won't) http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2013/06/28/directx-11-2/,Win7 is also getting a bit long in the tooth too at around 5 years old, also consider you'll get better security as well with 8.1.

Also clean installs of OS and games are always best options.
Right off to game on my stable Win8.1 ,anyway whatever you do don't blame the OS.

LOL, yeah I love that feature. It came with Win 7.

There is one game that undeniably runs better on Win 8. Battlefield 4. There are easily hundreds of games that don't run properly or at all with Win 8/8.1.

Everyone saying Win 8 runs games (other than BF4) faster is full of it.

This. I've seen SO many of these threads where the best option is sitting right in the OPs fast and yet the OP will sit there and juggle, juggle, and eventually go with something vastly worse.

All of the work was done for you already by Groover and you should thank him for it. He even went through the trouble of linking you to every part so you don't even have to think.

Read these forums(and reviews) a bit more OP and you'll have the knowledge necessary to start picking out parts yourself. But until you do, I'd trust a dedicated forum like anandtech.

I feel it works better with Windows 8 though. Works with Win 7 too though you're right. Not sure why anyone would waste time clicking around when it's clearly faster to hit 5 key strokes. The ONLY thing that bugs me is that not every program has an acronym that works.

Windows Media Center for example isn't WMC. It just won't recognize that. But yet League of Legends recognizes LOL right away.

I know I thank Groover a lot for that. Look man this is the only forum I am enlisted to. I don't know much about computers and That link I got was sent to me by a friend. I was skeptical about it. That's why I linked on to here for the wised ones to give their opinions. There's no need for the hate. I know I may seem extremely stupid to you guys right now, but do put it to mind that I have no clue what's in a computer. I know the basic stuff. Although no doubt in mind this is my favorite website to come to because you guys give beast answers. legit. straight forward. Thanks guy. I am going with Groovers build, but i am also getting that GTX750. I will have to over think the build though. I need to learn this stuff before I buy. Don't want to repeat the Bestbuy thing again. Thanks again guys.

Why?! Many retailers like newegg have less than friendly video card return policies so if you've already decided to build a new rig, buying a wimpy gtx750 is basically rolling up some bills and lighting it on fire.

Geez, it's funny how advice on the hardware forums is followed almost as well as in L&R lol!

I would throw the extra $30 bucks for the ti model if I were going with a GTX750. In some cases its 50% faster.

I have 350w and the reason why I am getting the GTX750 and the build is mainly because I am not getting the build right away. I am getting it in the long run meaning next year or the following few years, and maybe it will be an entirely new build.

+1

I would grab a GTX 750 Ti. Perfect card for turning those box store PC's into something that can game decent @ 1080p.

This is the one PCPER tested and got some great OC results, even out the box it boosts pretty high. Would work perfect on your 350w PSU.

If you have a Micro Center in your area, I strongly suggest buying at least the CPU and motherboard there. Not only are the CPUs usually $20-$50 cheaper than you can find online (sometimes even more if they have a special sale), but you can also save $30-$40 extra by buying the CPU and motherboard as a bundle. Even with local taxes, you're still coming out way ahead.
