Why wouldn't it have MNF?
Their site says you also have on-demand shows. You should be able to pause/resume or fast-forward/rewind that.
For the whole package it may be worth it to you, but no way would I value ESPN alone at anywhere near $20 per month. I'm not sure I'd even consider it the most valuable channel in that package.
Expect Comcast to increase Internet fees to consumers and justify it by their lost cable TV revenues and increased Internet bandwidth. Or else expect them to extort the content providers the same way they did with Netflix, by providing them with purposely bad peering.
Going to be interesting to see how it all shakes out over the next 5-10 years. I expect someone is going to figure out how to make an ass-load of money and TV viewing will get even more expensive for the average consumer.
I've been trying out the Sling app on my Xbox One. It's flaky at best. I've been *trying* to watch the NCAA tournament on it. Not sure if it's a frame rate thing or what, but the video signal is just...off. Hurts my eyes. Plus any tickers across the bottom stutter terribly. That's the good news.
Bad news is that it crashes or stops buffering every 45 minutes or so and you need to reload the app. I've had it get so messed up that it just got into a loop trying to reopen itself that I had to shut my console down.
Not sure it's worth the headache for $20 a month once my month demo is up.
Like the concept. Not thrilled with the execution.
Yeah, for me to even get ESPN in HD lame ass Time Warner forces me to go with a tuner box for $10 a month. And that's on top of the $45 a month service fee they charge to get the station. So after taxes and smoke clear it's almost $60 a month for ESPN.
Sling is about $22 after taxes. $40 a month savings.
You are the guy that pays it and support TW.....don't forget.
HBO Now starts next month for $1 less than my cable company charges...and there's a free 1-month trial.
At launch, it will be exclusive to Apple. I'm guessing exclusivity is just for 1-3 months. I know the Apple TV will have it. I'm also assuming iOS devices will have it (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch).
Does anyone know if "HBO Now" is just a service name and it will be accessed through HBO GO? Might be confusing if it's a separate app.
I have been mostly happy with my sling tv service. I got in on the free roku stick deal and my only complaint is really the roku stick. Sling is quick quick and responsive on my nexus 7 and but i have to click and wait on the roku when moving to new channels. It takes 5ish seconds to load the guide info for each channel. It can get annoying sometimes. Makes me wish i had gotten the roku 3 or fire stick instead. But I already had a roku in another room so I figured I would stick with what i was familiar with.
From what it looks like, HBO Now (and I can't access the actual HBO site at work) it is streaming service, with "live" access as they premiere shows. So, it is a combination of HBO Go and the HBO channel, but without the constant live watching of movies. So, basically, you can stream GoT as it airs, or anything previously aired at any time.
For what it's worth, HBO Now is $14.99 a month and the HBO service on my Comcast package is $20 a month. If you have an Apple TV (or are willing to wait), and don't watch the HBO airing of movies, this is the best way to get GoT and such.
As far as ESPN, I'd skip it. Mostly because they don't offer enough sports I watch. If the package included NBC Sports and a way to watch La Liga, I'd be more inclined to drop my provider for it.
