Well, that makes all those benchmarks irrelevant as of now.
Both of them have to retest with the 16.11.5 hotfix again and see what happens.
But most people will not pay attention to driver version number, and the most widely spread is the first evaluation.
Moreover, more than ten hours have passed, presumably concerned about people already seen, and spread in the world, even if the next test again, people will still have the impression: 1060 performance is better than 480.
This is what I find very ridiculous.

Wow, 1060 3GB faster than Fury X with High Textures @ 1080p? Not a bad little card there.

So what we are learning is that even at 1080p even 4GB is becoming less and less valuable and optimally you'd want 8GB of vram. Good to know. I was planning on getting a 480 4GB, but now I think going for 470 8GB might be more future proof, when its pretty much the same price at $210 here.

I mean so far obviously a 4GB 480 gives better performance, games do seem to manage memory rather well and are efficient even with less memory than optimally needed, but the trend is clear, right now 3GB is utter garbage and worthless at purchase, 4GB is going to become worthless in about 6 months from now, especially as more games are DX12 developed as they seem to like more memory.

So at least following the last 6-7 benchmarks from various triple-A games 8GB memory is where its at, if you want futureproof you want 8GB of ram.

All that proves is the 3GB is limited in the first test because of VRAM while the Fury X wasn't.

Fury X has 1 fps difference while 3GB gains 6fps (15%).

There appears to be a lot of stuff not being culled properly which is why the 480 is faster than Fury X.

Just want to chime in and say this is a fine looking game. I think it would be fair to say this is one of the best looking open world games out there if not the best. (mods excluded) Seems to be running good too. Well done Ubisoft

looked better than GTA 5 for sure. Character animation and movement is great.

Wish I had my own copy to check performance

That's the nature of the milking process. This whole generation smells like sour, overpriced milk.

Yeah. We will talk about the glorious 290(x) days the next 2 decades they way it seems now. The RX 480 does mostly beat the 290x marginally at best. Here cheapest 4 Gb RX 480 is still $250, what I payed for a 290x 1.5 years ago...

I need Volta to get here ASAP. Titan X isn't enough for 144hz 1440p games of the future it seems and I'm not going to deal with crap multi GPU scaling in major titles just to get the performance I want in titles like Watch Dogs 2.

Yeah. very true. That's why I went with 1080p 144 hz. Did not want to spent thousands of dollars on GPUs.

What's even worse is that even if you do spend thousands on GPUs, half of what you spent might go to waste because mGPU scaling is so AWFUL, especially in many new titles.

Polaris 10 mGPU scaling is extremely well even on day one. RX 480 8GB (2x $229) mGPU scaling at 1440p is almost 75%

That's not my point. My point is that when SLI/CrossFireX work, they work well. But there are just far too many situations in which it doesn't work that I have given up on mGPU.

I had an SLI 1080 configuration, but now I have a single Titan X and my gaming experience is much better overall. Until the situation fundamentally improves, you can count me out of multi-GPU.

That is understandably, NVIDIA doesnt care about SLI anymore, that doesnt mean the same with CrossFire and it is evidenced in Watch Dogs 2. AMD has spend a lot of resources and time to mGPU the last 3-4 years. CrossFire support is at an exemplary level with almost day one CF support for almost every major game launched in 2016. mGPU will become more critical in DX-12/Vulkan and VR in the next months.

I was talking about mGPU in general, not a particular implementation of it.

GTX 1080 delivers solid SLI scaling in Watch Dogs 2. Again, that's not my point. My point is that there are many games in which multi-GPU simply is not workable thanks to the game engine using rendering techniques with inter-frame dependencies.

Come on man, crossfire is NOT a good option now or in the past and who knows the future, no one!

Don't start pushing that crap on buyers just because a dual gpu 480 card is coming.
MOst games in the past year have had no crossfire working or you had to wait months for it to work and when it did work it was a stuttering mess.

Start using some links to prove your point or I will hit the report button.
Stop spreading FUD!

Your really going to recommend a $ 460 crossfire solution that's 10% faster than a gtx1070 and the gtx1070 costs 30% less at $369?

Stop pushing a $460 crossfire solution and linking one game that works.
Crossfire is a bad option when a single card solution cost $369 with a free game.

Actually its 209,99 AR each card, that is only $420 for GTX 1080 performance and with FreeSync support to make it even better.

Also, as said before, AMD CrossFire supports almost every new major 2016 title and many on day one.

Just because NVIDIAs luck of SLI support and innovation doesnt mean the same happens with AMD CrossFire, and with DX-12 mGPU AMD Frame Pacing support since last October, its going to really kick off in the next DX-12 games.

16 crossfire profiles since March? wow that's great 16 games in 8 months.
The rest you get performance of 1 card! ha ha what a joke.

Yea, a great 2 day sale with no free game and you have to wait for a rebate.
A card you might get a crossfire profile for at launch or wait a few week or months or sometimes not at all. That might give you 50%, 60% or 85% scaling and be a little faster or sometimes slower than a gtx1070 . A solution that uses about 2x the power and puts 2x the heat in your case.
VS.
A gtx1070 for $369 no rebates and a free Watchdogs 2 game worth at least $30 . That performs consistently good every game release and uses way less power, less heat and is about on average 9% slower than 480 crossfire.
