I live near a rural community that just happens to have been chosen for filming quite a bit of IronMan3 . I have to say the studio have been a class act from the start. They started off before filming by hosting a event where all the food was free, the producers , directors were giving signatures, handing out swag from the movie and lots of other stuff. I really liked how personable the actors and director was during the event, they didn't try to sell themselves as someone special and really just blended in with the farmers and country folk. This is a town of about 7,000 so really something special for them .
Since that event they have really done a lot of changes on the town. They took the downtown area that was basically empty for years and made their own town, they re-painted everything , even built extra floors on some buildings. It was kind of odd seeing a street that was formerly empty now have a sheriff department, chinese restaurant , bingo places, and more, they went through a lot of work and anyone not knowing what was there before would assume it was always there. The funny thing is the weather is supposed to be snowy and cold in some of the scenes and with the 100 degree heat they have been using huge snow blowers to cover roofs and scenery .
They have also been recruiting a lot of the locals for small spots or background types as well as people with some really nice cars. I started to go to one of the casting calls, but when I saw it only pays roughly $60 a day and that day may be 12 hours, I lost interest. I got some pics I will post when I get a chance to put them on a site that show some of the actors and areas.
I had done vfx in film before but never really watched the actual production, was interesting to watch.
