Watching Television on the Computer

I bought and installed the Hauppauge pvr 350 personal video recorder card. I have a severe hearing problem and when I tried to use the closed caption so I could watch a tv show I found there wasn't one. Yet, when you use the help menu on the card it tells you how to activate the closed caption!!!
I sent a request to Hauppauge asking thm how to activate the closed caption feature.
The reply was................. the card doesn't support the closed caption. !@#$
In the reply the Hauppauge tech guy sent a link to a site that had directions on how to activate a closed caption thing. I quickly scaned the directions and said,,, Not Yet!!!!
It involved going into Windows registry and making changes. I don't want to mess with the registry yet.
Does anyone know of a PVR type card that will give me the closed caption feature???
The card must be able to do hardware decoding)
And, will that card and software let me record the tv show and thenpl;ay it back on my dvd player and watch the closed caption?????

With Media Center 2005 Operating System and a DVD codec like Cyberlink I am pretty sure that you would get closed captioning! You also might get closed captioning with BeyondTV and SageTV software as well...

Just edit the registry. It's not that big of a deal. Hell of a lot easier than buying and installing a new card.

A little update.
I sent a terse note to Hauppauge telling them that the pvr card isn?t worth anything to me if it can?t be use properly. I?m referring to the fact that in the help menu there is a specific procedure that will enable the closed captioning!!!
I got another short reply telling me to use the card with MCE ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Since I am thinking about building a new pc using a amd dual core cpu then the mce software will be a valid option.
I looked at the steps needed to edit the registry. Simple enough to do.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I open the registry to edit the lines of code that are mentioned in the procedure are not there. Meaning that the name of the section to change isn?t in the registry. There are different words and characters.
