Watchmen: Recut

I have one wish for 2011.

That new editors would take Watchmen and redo the entire soundtrack. It must have Smashing Pumpkins and Muse in it. That they would reorder some of the scenes so half the movie isn't flashbacks and montages. It would NOT have most of the extra scenes added by the Directors cut. They'd cut out just a few of the goriest visuals. The ending does without the mother/daughter reconciliation, and just cuts to the "hey world is actually better, but oh noes, there is the journal".

Me watching movie in theater: This is just, okay. I know what they were trying to do with the songs they picked, but it just doesn't work.

Me watching Director's cut: This movie is a steaming pile of CRAP!!!!!

He could start by changing Ozymandias' motivation for framing Dr. Manhattan because what he explained in the climax of the film was extremely stupid. Also getting rid of the slow-motion fight scenes wouldn't hurt. :biggrin:

I watched the director's cut version on blu-ray and thought it was quite good as-is.

I'm used to the music in ads not being in the movie, the ad often just picks something that's currently popular and fits.

No. The director's cut is pretty damn good, if I must say. I could do without the Curse of the Black Freighter bits thrown in, though--which adds absolutely nothing to the rest of the film and is simply distracting.

Didn't flow right. Extra scenes used bad actors and had nothing to do with the main plot.
