Water Cooling Question

Starting college this summer, and I've also been wanting to set up watercooling this summer now that I have some cash. My question is, when transporting to and from (bout a 1.5hr drive if that matters) would I have to drain the system, then re-fill it once I'm at school, or would it be acceptable to keep it filled, just be extremely caution while transporting it.

Thank in advance

I was told that as long as it is sealed up well then it is fine to transport without draining. I'm hoping this is true since I go to lan parties every so often and I am going to be getting my loop set up within the next week or two.

Yeah, that was more or less what I was thinking, but I will be glad to hear any news on how it goes with transporting, seeing as your loop will be set up before mine. Thanks for the reply.

no you dont need to drain it. If its a closed loop, then dont worry.

The only thing you need to watch out is for bubbles. If you get a bubble to move up and get stuck in your CPU Block, or GPU Block, OR radiator, your going to have to rebleed the system all over again.

Dont worry about transportation. I swing my stacker/NAS up and down the stairs frequently.

i think i recomended parts on both of you guys. Let me know how your rigs run when its setup.

I have moved my system by car and ferry back from NY to Boston several times without draining, just make sure everything is sealed and you use hose clamps (metal ones not the plastic ones). Even if your tubing is tight without clamps I wouldn't recommend transporting without them as its not worth the risk.

you should be fine but to avoid the problem you could always drain and replace with a fluid that has low/no corrosion, higher heat conductivity and is electrically non-conductive. there are some great water replacements out there now I have used the same coolant for the last year and when inspected the cpu block recently there was no corrosion what so ever.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm glad to know I can transport it safely without the hassle of draining it.
