hey, i hope someone can help me with this...
i'm trying to put together a water coolong system. i want to be able to add to it down the road, things like NB, GPU, HDD, ect. now, my question is, how high should my maximum gallons per hour rate be? i found a pump with 750gph for 50 bucks, but i'm worried that it'd be too high. what rating would you reccomend?

I would head over to ocforums they have some great guides. Having said that you did not mention which pump that was. There are a handful of well respected pumps for PC water cooling including the Danger Den DD4 12v, Laing DDC and Laing D4, Aquaxtreme 50Z and Eheim to name a few good ones.

I've heard nothing but good stories about the AquaXtreme 50Z. I ordered it, but won't have it until sometime after the 25th...

Go with the 50z, from cooltechnica.com, I have it and could not be happier. Now i am waiting on my g5 storm that i ordered but that will prolly be atleast 2 months lol. I think I am going to get a Lian Li pc-v1000 and redo the whole setup with a bix 2.

It really all depends as to where you are pumping from, and where to. I for instance am pumping From about 15' away, and of course return trip. I only use a Danner Magdrive 350gph to date to get that done, tho I am waiting on a 500gph. The 350gph handles it fine, and that is going thru 2 Cpu blocks, and 1 Gpu block, then home.
If, you are using, or intend to use a pump inside the case, that in fact is a whole different story there, of which I don't presently do, so my knowledge is a bit limited there as to Hands On.

Bole how are you going to fit a BIX II in a V1000? I own the V1000 and I'm planning on getting a BIP II (which will be mounted externally) unless you plan on doing what I'm gonna do. And I assume you'll have the pump sitting down in the second HDD compartment, to hide its ugliness

sorry, i forgot the link to the pump http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=HD10202
anyway, it pushes 925 GPH to a max head of 105"....costs 60$
mowever, the question still stands...is that high a rate of flow safe? especially in a pc-contained system? right now i just want to get a basic system up and running, but i want to be able to add more parts to it whenever i have some free time/cash.
thanks for the help so far
cheers

Hi The L45 is a good pump the flow rate can be adjusted or kicked down.
If you dont want 925GPH. what are you planning to run for coolent lines 3/8 or1/2?
what size radiatore dual 120 or single 120? what kind of water block do you want.

the pump by its self is great and will not give you any problems its the other parts
you got to factor in when buying a pump.

oh! the flow rate is great im still leak testing it 18hrs now and tonight it goes in
to my case. if you need more info P.M me.:thumbsup:so far.

If you mean the DDC, I'd give it a few months. If there are going to be problems they'll pop up after a the pump has been in service for a while. 750 GPH for a water-cooling pump is overkill. This doesn't mean you can't use one, only that there are inherent limits as to what's useful in terms of flow. If you go with a pump that powerful I'd suggest taking great care in how you secure your barbs. As a recommendation 320 GPH is good.
