Water faucet - a pressure problem?

I have a faucet outside that leaks. At first, i changed the seals. Still leaked, so i changed out the whole faucet. This seemed to work for maybe a month or so and behold... it leaks again. If i turn on and off the water - the leak slows considerably making me think it is a pressure problem but none of the other faucets do this. Thoughts?

Switch the new faucet with one of the working ones and see what happens.

the pressure in the system is the same everywhere in the house, thus if it was a pressure problem, all of them would be leaking.

are you talking about a frost free or a regular spigot?

This one was working brand new and then started leaking again... i can buy another new one but i would rather know what other issues it could be

And you would think so.... except i remember the guy who installed our water softener system saying it wouldn't work on these ones outside because they seemed to be connected a different system over the houses... but i dont know if that would.make a difference. *shrug*

my parents have a softener, and the softener is only connected to the inside faucets. This way you are not wasting salt on your lawn or washing your car. The water pressure still comes from the main line into the house.

Have you tried reducing the flow from the valve? just to test your pressure theory. There should't be pressure issues.

What do you mean by reducing the flow?

To the main house or just by trying to tighten the faucet more? ... and to the main house... no. I hadnt thought of that.

I just found that turning on the faucet slightly and turning it back off reduced the leaking from a steady rapid dripping to a slow slow drip for a couple days - which is why i was thinking pressure.

Well that makes sense too... they likely said something along those lines too. it was 8 years ago.

I dont think this one has a singular shutoff valve for it alone. if so... it's in a bizarre location that is unknown to me. maybe inside the wall.

Basement or if it is on kitchen wall, under sink. How did you change it without shutting it?

Neither. it's an outside one off the garage wall - i posted a picture above. Turned off the water to the house... wmptied the pipes by turning it on... unscrewed the whole piece and then screwed a new one on. It's literally 3 feet from the main shutoff.

My garage one has a shutoff in the basement. But anyway, no new faucet should be leaking. Take it back and buy a better one.

We dont have basements here... i doubt any place will take it back after a couple months but i might try and get a new one anyways. It might just be one off those unlucky circumstances where i got a faulty new faucet.

Well it should look very new if it was just installed, a few months will show wear.

You're the victim of a coincidence. Turn off the water, disassemble it and you're going to find something in it that doesn't belong there. A piece of something between the sealing washer and the seat. Or buy a replacement like you said. Or do both.

Helped an elderly family member Saturday with a new flat screen. She says tune to channel 187. The banner appears at the bottom saying it's tuned to 187 but there is no picture. All the other channels work. She's convinced there's a problem with the TV but I tell her to wait a while and see if the channel comes on, that it's a problem with her cable provider.

She's not buying it but grudgingly agrees. Two hours later she calls to say the channel is back.

She was the victim of a coincidence.

It's the animosity on inanimate objects........
All the shut off valves are out to get you. You need to move to a different place so thy can't find you.

But yes, I'd try still another one.
The suggestion to disassemble it and check for problems a good one too.
