In an effort to try to lose some weight I've pretty much given up soda. I'll still have some here and there but not nearly as much as I used to (about 3-4 16 oz bottles a day!) Now I'll have maybe 1 or 2 16 oz bottles a week (usually even less than that.

I've been drinking plain water for the most part and I've recently started buying the water enhancers like Mio. They're pretty good, but damn if they aren't expensive! $3.99 for a single bottle of Mio (less than 2 oz I think). Sure, it doesn't take much much to flavor the water, but when you like variety and you're trying to save money as well, it doesn't help.

So, wondering if anyone knows a source to get this stuff cheaper? I've looked on Amazon so far and sometimes it is slightly cheaper, but not by much.

i always picked up a 24-pack of water and mio for less than $10, last me quite a while.

Mio is the most expensive. Nestea and Crystal Light(among others) have their own out now for like a dollar less than that.
Have you gone to Costco or anything to buy a case of Mio? I think they're a bit less buying them in bulk that way.

SodaStream zero calorie flavors. You can buy them cheap and on discount in bulk for big ass bottles for a few bucks. Doesn't take much to add enough flavor to your drink that you like. WAY cheaper than Mio and the like. You don't need the carbonation either for the drink to taste good (depends on your tastebuds I guess). I pick the crystal light, koolaid, and tea flavors of the SodaStream (and knock offs) flavors for doing this.

I buy the crystal light lemonade that comes in the small box with individual packets. It's usually on sale for like $2 (maybe $2.50 regular price).

I love that stuff, It absolutely hits the spot when I come in from working outside and I'm really thirsty. I just fill a large glass 3/4 full of water, dump in the packet, stir, and fill up with ice.

mmmm, good.

Try flavor extracts to flavor the water. It's subtle if done right, and doesn't have sweetness, but it tastes pretty good imo. I like peppermint, anis, and lemon. Other flavors are probably good too, but I haven't tried them. If I remember right, 1/4tsp per liter gives a decent amount of flavor.

I think they are bad for you, but I don't drink them that much, maybe a few packets a week.

It's not that expensive when you factor in how many water bottles that $3 can make. I moved on from energy drinks, to coffee, to Mio Energy and it's much cheaper, even cheaper if you refill the water by yourself.

I meant the squirt in kind. That's the only way to buy drink mix IMO, powder is so 80s.

I keep a jug of water in my fridge and rotate between Crystal Light Iced Tea and plain water. For a low-cost flavor additive I just slice up a lemon and add it to the water.

Check the ingrediant list and see if you can make it yourself. First one is always the one they put more of, so at least you have a starting point.

Go to walmart and get the "Great Value" branded flavors for under $2 a bottle. The squirt bottles are good for 10-15 "drinks" depending on just how big of a glass or bottle you use. Less than $.20 a "drink". That's not terrible.

if you live in CA, the 99 cents store sell the mio for .99 cents. Only certain states has the 99 cents stores though.
