Tankless MIGHT save some money but you have to account for how long you will stay and use it. Current water usage and future usage. And a big one is do you have the current ability to install a tankless. For electric you will probable have top run new wire to handle the new load and gas needs larger exhust piping for the extra fumes.
After looking at that and a new high energy efficent tank heater the tank heater made more sense for all cost taken into account. That and if you get a very high effecient tank heater then warp it with a watertank warp it saves money more quickly then a tankless. At least for me and the numbers i used. Every person and house is different.
