Water loss mystery

OK, so yesterday I went out of bounds and ate Chinese food for lunch. It was right next to the bank and I deposited my checks so hey, I couldn't resist. I ate it and got thirsty and drank a ton of water. Last night I looked a little puffy in the mid section so I weighed myself and was 178.5.
This morning I woke up and my underwear were nearly falling off. They were barely hanging on my hips. I looked and felt thin and kinda SEXY actually LOL. Anyway, I stepped on the scale and weighed 175. What the hell happened? Is sugary, salty Chinese food the secret to fitness success?

Your story is evidence that it must be. Time to get serious and start eating Chinese once or twice a day to make ultra-sexy gains.

Salt retained water in your body for a while - from here the puffiness. Then, after several hours, both the salt and water were excreted through the kidneys and you were slim and few pounds lighter again. So, most likely you went back to the weight you had before eating. Or maybe, if not drinking much water that days, you became a little dehydrated, which can be quickly a drop of few pounds.

I don't think that the Chinese food pushed any water or...what?...out of you.

Sounds like a sudden boost of your metabolism unless your scale is broken. Chinese food once per week for faster weight loss haha. Whatever works, right?

I don't think it's specific to chinese food, but I definitely see a huge swing in water retention from one day to the next after overindulging in most anything. It's normally a weekend thing for me. I'll keep my diet in check all week and splurge a bit on saturday and sunday. Monday I'll feel a bit bloated and puffy, but by tuesday I'm back to normal. I'll actually notice myself shedding the water in the form of more frequent bathroom trips monday.

I just try to remember that as long as it's just water weight it's neither here nor there in terms of my long term body shape. I'm adding a bit of fat too every time I splurge like that, and that's what will need to be dealt with eventually. It sure is nice to go from feeling a bit disgusting one day to fine the next though.
