Waterproof car seat covers?

I'm looking for some waterproof car seat covers (baby = bottles/applejuice stains). So far CoverKing & PrecisionFit look the best, but the prices are ridiculous - $400 for front & rear waterproof car seat covers for a 2013 Honda Civic. There are also some cheaper ones for pets (around $40) I could cut holes into, and then just get some cheapo Pep Boys covers for the front seats. Thoughts?

Functionally I'm guessing cheap vs. expensive would be comparable. Its all about fit/finish and appearance. If its not a hoopty I'd go for the nice stuff

3-year lease...they haven't cared in the past about stains or anything since there's usually a certain amount of damage they cover (Honda covers up to $1500), but it'd also make it easier just to clean out. I'll probably go with the Weathertech rubberized full-cover floor mats and some waterproof seat covers, that way it's a cinch to maintain the interior. Although the Civic has heated cloth seats, so I'm not sure how well (presumably thick) waterproof covers would transfer that heat.

How 'bout car seat protectors? My boys are 6 and 8 now and we still use them under their booster seats. I know I'm jinxing myself but so far they have done the trick and, as they are heavier than a cover, they also help to prevent the car seat "dent" from the hard plastic bases.
Our biggest mess so far was actually melted crayons on the floor!

Wet Okole is also an option, but is also $$. As far as I know, those are the best.

Yeah those were upwards of $250 a set, or $500 total. This is for my wife's leased car, so I wouldn't want to invest too much into it, but having an easy-to-clean car seat cover system for the next 3 years would also be nice...

That could work, I'm not set on a cover so much as something waterproof, especially for the backseats where bottles & juices get spilled on either side of the baby seat. They threw in free Auto Armor or whatever on my last lease and it was so-so...I think having something removable that you can throw in the washing machine or hose off would be better, and you can throw away crumbs and stuff more easily.

Have you considered just buying some heavy duty poly-cotton fabric and have some upholsterer trim it to fit with "button holes" for the seat belts....and then just spray them with water repellent?

The water repellent might be toxic

Isn't there a waterproof fabric you can have upholstered?

I've had the Wet Okole and currently have CoverKing. The CoverKing covers were cheaper and when they came they were softer and felt nicer than the Wet Okole covers.

Unfortunately the CoverKing covers have not held up well. The colored section has de-laminated from the base fabric. If you go with CoverKing get all black with no color!

The Wet Okole covers held up longer/better but they eventually have the same problem, the color comes off...

How long did they last? The lease is only for 3 years, so if they hold up that long it may be worth the investment...

how waterproof do you need? My mom used to use terrycloth bath towels to make seat covers for the rear seats of the new cars they bought. Of course, everyone was already an adult and we never spilled anything, so they got thrown out in a few years after fading from sun exposure.

just throwing out a low cost option that's not waterproof, but will absorb small spills.

We're mostly in the bottle stage right now, which gets flung randomly, but it will be juices soon as my kiddo gets older. Thus the rubberized floormat & waterproof seatcovers idea - I can just pull them out, wash them off, and be done cleaning the car out.

Well the truck is a few years old but only has 12k miles on it cause I usually drive the car. The covers are already coming apart in only 12k miles...

How far are you driving that you feel it is necessary to feed your kids applesauce in the car?

Think so huh

You'd understand if you saw the existing state of my cars. De-strapping seat covers for 5 minutes would be a vastly more simple undertaking than having to scrub them out

Juice, apple juice. And right now it's mostly bottles. With his throwing arm, I think I've got a future baseball pitcher
