Growing up, the next door neighbors were Jewish. Someone tagged our house with swastikas and "F Jew" graffiti. Some people just have to show their asses to the world.

I'd guess because breaking and entering is a crime with a victim. A violation of basic human rights to feel safe in ones own home. Doing the Nazi salute in a private picture in a giant group and then having it uncovered months later victimizes whom exactly?

A dumbass high school teen can be expected to know that breaking and entering and vandalism is wrong (hell my fifth grader knows that) but that something they think is funny because it gets a rise out of people being off limits is a more abstract concept. To them no harm no foul, it’s just edgy humor.

I know kids have trouble understanding long term consequences of their action but this is unacceptable. At least there is one kid in there who clearly wasn't having it. He sent a DM to the guy on twitter who unearthed this (I think at least), saying that he was uncomfortable but there was not enough time to leave the photo. There is also at least one white power symbol in there....

I was a stupid little dip shit, but I'm sure I wouldn't have done something like this - or tide pods. My sisters either, we had pretty good parents. I'm just disappointed to see this so close to home, Baraboo is about 40 miles away from me. I also grew up in a small Wisconsin town a lot like it. I'm not outraged. I'm just disappointed, and I think we need to do better.

This. Grew up in Midwest Dearborn the most racially divided city in the US until a few short years ago and wouldn't on my worst day at 18 years of age been part of this. I would have been the odd man out looking sheepish. I knew a few kids that I graduated with who would have totally embraced this photo op just like one front and center throwing white power sign. The town I grew up in was predominately white. There was a hispanic population that was maybe fairly in line with national average, but other then that almost exclusively white. I went to a parochial school until high school, and every single kid in the school was white. You could consider me quite sheltered by the time I got to high school. Early in my freshmen year some of the football players got in a fight with some hispanic kids and beat them up, iirc kinda bad. I know it was racially motivated, because they were not exactly coy about that in the locker room before practice. There was a little pow wow of other players congratulating them for beating up the "dirty mexicans." Being super naive at the time, I was pretty stunned. I was talking to one of my sisters about our experiences in high school, she's the one who first showed me this Baraboo thing. I was just thinking about how different my life could have been if I, in a misguided attempt to fit in, participated in it. Maybe I start hanging out with those guys. From what little I've seen of that crowd since high school, they haven't changed much. They'd also be the type to revel in this kind of photo. I'm glad I just shook my head and quietly finished putting my pads on.
