Webb might be pretty to some (the 7 pounds of makeup turn me off), but I hate the "reality" component that is making it's way into sports. MSN is my homepage, and it seems like every week there's a new headline about some athlete's latest girlfriend in a bikini, and it's listed among valid news stories.

Keep the Kardashians out of my football please. If I want porn I'll go find porn.

When Webb gets bent over I'll take a look.

So when Brent Musburger verbally jacks off on the air over Webb - that was for the females?

I actually assume that incident was staged. I wonder if Musburger and Webb share an agent or an agency?

Oh noes! A down year for the SEC where somehow they're still the best conferece and seeing virtually no real long term opposition to that position from any of the other conferences.

Looking forward to seeing a couple straight years I the playoffs where it ends up with SEC v SEC.

Maybe, maybe not.

I'm no FSU fan, but they're loaded with NFL talent at almost every position, and they usually have a top-ranked class. Oklahoma looks to be a serious threat next year if that QB stays healthy. And you know Urban Myer has the pipeline in place at OSU, and Oregon keeps getting richer. I'm not so sure MSU couldn't stymie Alabama, LSU, or Auburn right now with the D it has. That's just off of the top of my head.

Is it schadenfreude on my part? Of course it is. SEC fans annoy to no end with the this "root for a conference" crap and chanting "SEC,SEC,SEC!" at every bowl victory. As someone pointed out - did you hear OU fans chanting "BIG 12,BIG 12,BIG 12!" after last night's game?

not sure the conference organization is doing its job if it can't produce a single best team for a playoff bracket at the end of the season.

thats why the playoff system will fail just like BCS. without true divisional play with equitable schedules, its going to stay mega-conference biased giving each other reach-arounds.

need 4 conferences, 2 divisions each. play everyone in your division once, best team out of each division plays the other for a conference title. the four conference winners play for the title.

the only way it will work is if there is NO POLLS. NO VOTING. NO RANKINGS. Just W's and L's.

Give OK some credit, man. Alabama played as hard as it could. You really think that senior class wanted to go out with two straight losses?

SEC fans can sugar coat it all they want, but this year was a step back for the SEC.

LSU barely beats Iowa, a bad Big Ten team?

A&M barely gets by Duke, a team with limited talent?

Florida, a traditional SEC power, is a train wreck?

The national championship game is pretty huge for the SEC. If Auburn gets blown out.....

I agree it seems to be a step back year (though there are 3 SEC teams remaining with games yet decided).

But I will say that mentally this game had to mean less to an average Alabama player vs. what it meant to Oklahoma. I mean how could it not? Bama was just playing for the national championship and lost to Auburn, their in-state rival, in rip your heart out fashion. They went from hoping to play for something meaningful (again) to something that honestly means absolutely nothing at all to a team full of guys who had won 2 national titles in a row. This should be obvious. And it's a huge flaw in my opinion of the college game. We put a lot of stock in these bowl games as fans but the reality is that currently only one game means anything at all.

And I'm certainly not saying this because it is an SEC team. I would say this for any team in a similar situation.

Also, why would it matter if Auburn gets blown out? What are the ramifications other than internet discussions and messing with any SEC people you might know personally?

Except that was a big part of the problem with the BCS and the automatic qualifier status. Once most of the football schools bailed for the ACC, BE football was like high level MAC but they still had a reserved spot. At one pointt 8 of the top ten slots were SEC schools, should that be the case at the end of the year and more than one comes from the same conference why is that bad? Does the basketball tourney somehow suck if 4 of the elite eight were ACC?

because the 8 out of top 10 slots distinction is reached by conference bias, reinforced by preseason rankings and then justified by incestuous conference games.

in what i proposed, ALL schools in FBS would be in one of those 4 conferences. teams shifting conferences, conferences getting better or worse would no longer matter. YES you could have an easier path to the finals depending on your division peers (just like any sport). but no matter what you would have to beat everything thrown at you to be the national champ.

right now all it takes is to be in a 'good' conference and lose 0 or 1 games, NO MATTER what any team in any 'weaker' conference does. Its the latter part that is the travesty, and its what gets fixed in a system with no rankings.

putting 2/4 playoff teams in SEC means that the best team from some other conference did not get a shot to compete, whereas the 2 SEC teams will have already played and a victor be known.

OK is not a bad team at all. What I was saying is Bama did not want it bad enough as OK did. They did not have the same discipline and drive as they usually did (too many TOs and penalties, 5 turnovers vs. 1 for OK). I am not making excuses, OK won fair and square. They played much better than Bama last night. On the two OK losses (to TX and Baylor), they had at least 2 turnovers for each game.

LSU = new QB in bowl game because Met went down during the Ark game.

A+M = no freaking defense (96th out of 120+ Division 1 schools in points allowed), even a HS team could score plenty on them.

Florida = no QB (out for the year early in the season) plus other injuries for other starters.

Georgia lost by less than a TD and if the player was able to hold onto the ball at the end, the result would be different.

Miss St. demolished its opponent and all SEC losses so far were 14 points or less (for now).

SEC still has a winning record for bowl games this year (so far).

don't forget georgia also had significant injuries at major offensive locations, was somewhat surprised at how close they still managed to play against nebraska.

Don't forget to mention that Nebraska did not have their starting quarterback, and had other injuries as well. I guess injuries are only good excuses for SEC teams thought, right?
