Ways to improve wireless reception?

Ive got a wireless network set up at my 3 bedroom home. There is a pc in each room with a wireless adapter, but only the pc in the same room as the router gets good reception. The other pcs get a very weak signal. Moving the other PCs is not an option, nor is moving the router.

Can anyone recommend a cheap way to increase the reception of the PCs or boost the signal of the router? I once heard something about wrapping copper wire around the antennas of the clients might help. Can anyone confirm that?
