You people are ridiculous. Complain about anything. If it was $500 you would say it ran 5c more than amd card so not worth it.

Except we have an actual Titan owner in here also complaining. What's ridiculous is that you actually believe what you're saying. I assure you, if we were provided with a $500 Titan, you'd see a whole lot more cheers than frowns.

I can't believe you're defending this.

Yes, I typed that twice. I'm that dumbfounded. Did you defend the Titan Z too? You at least did a decent job of living up to your username.

I know someone here will take 4 .

And that's what I love. If you have the income and passion, then enjoy top performance. As long as you realize that, much like the Titan, AMD will beat it for less than half the price in the same calendar year, followed by Nvidia releasing a more reasonably priced 980Ti card that's just as fast. If you are ok with that and are fine with upgrading again later this year, then I hope we see some people with 4. I always support the true enthusiasts who get the best of the best (although, with the current state of SLI vs superior Crossfire, will the extra FPS actually mean its smoother?)

Well, technically the fourth time, since I got my buddy a 980. Just getting the facts straight. Like I said, I'm "disappointed" with NVIDIA regarding the whole "Titan" thing. But, I honestly still prefer their ecosystem and plan on gaming at either 1080p or the very similar 16:10 on my dell. So, given the point in the market I happened to get the itch to upgrade again being now, we have the 980 as the clear winner providing with me with around ~20% upgrade in performance.

Really, I'm certainly not in love with NVIDIA by any means, I had the lightning 5870 and would recommend AMD do someone without reservation. My primary thing isn't about price/$ or any of the other usual metrics cited, it's about 1080p performance at the time of upgrade. Usually NVIDIA just turns out to have had that metric when I have upgraded.

As always, when the 2016/2017 round comes around whoever can treat me right in terms of max performance at the resolution I happen to be using at the time will win. Obviously, I forgot to include that I will not go over $699 or something within reason to get there. If I were a betting man, I'm betting that AMD may just be in my future circa late 2016/early 2017.

NO.

My current card cost 500 beans.

It has kept me happy ever since.

No complaints, about temps or anything else.

You lose.

Just economics - they aren't going to make many of these so they sell them for as high a price as they can. Seems someones worked out they'll sell them all at $1350 each. If someone's going to buy them fine by me - that profit will get plowed back in to making normal cards better for the other 99.99% of us.

Now if the price of more normal cards keeps going up, that bothers me much more.

Not really! It may be natural to at least complain some what, at least constructively, if the MSRP is now $1,350.

If it was $500, we would still complain because the 980Ti would be $300 and have better performance! LOL

NVIDIA is doing it to itself.

Considering that AMD will be dropping the 380x (or whatever its called) within a month or two of this, I will just wait and see, I want supreme performance for witcher 3, but im not paying over 1k for a card when direct competition is so close.

I'm almost tempted to budget for one of these so can get one...

Adaptive sync monitor and two 380s.

I'm pretty sure that's more than the contents of my box cost, and I didn't exactly skimp.

$350 is a pretty big jump. Here's hoping I'm not complaining about single cards cracking 2k in a few years.

Funnily the same performance at $500 and at $1350 offer a radically different price/performance ratio. At $500 I'd probably consider one. At $1350 I'll crack snide jokes.

Is there any appeal to such a card at that price after the 780Ti for any reason other than casual compute?

Will be getting 3-4 of these for sure!

Then re-selling for $2000/each. :sneaky:

The original Titans held a good $500-600 premium for the first month or two. These will be the same...

Well, it might make a nice entry level compute card, but for gaming - it's simply e-peen.

Not sure if serious...but if true, will participate in the "F5 olympics" and try to nab as many of these suckers as I can at launch.
