How about 2816 Radeon Cores, 176 TMUs and 512bit memory with 64 ROPs? Assuming the memory and ROPs are coupled.

Who says Hawaii will use Tahiti's memory controller? Dave Baumann strongly hinted at Pitcairns PHY which is a lot smaller. Double that and you're good.

2816 is correct.

Well then, either they changed something in the architecture or, 2816 is not the entire number of Radeon Cores the Chip has.

edit: unless, the last two CU arrays dont have 4x CUs and only have 3x CUs. So, the chip may have 12 CU Arrays but the last two only have 3x CUs like Cape Verde. OK, thats seams possible.

Anyone that has followed prior GPU launches knows that pre-launch prices, especially based on currency conversion, are usually not based in reality. Sites had the 7970 at 700$+ in the weeks before launch. Whatever. AMD is stupid but not stupid enough to price it that high, I'd say 600$ is probably the price. Not sure if the BF4 bundle edition costs more, though, that is definitely possible.

Holy crap these prices are out of control.

Seriously. I am disappoint if the R290X launches at $699. $599 is more reasonable for the rumored performance and $499 woud be even better.

Completely agree. Hopefully the prices that are being shown right now are just placeholders. If the prices are accurate, this card better open up a decent can of whoop to justify it.

I think the prices are fine, that has been the norm for high end GPU for quite a few years now. I've always considered $300 mid range 500+ high end.

A couple things worry me about this card, the raw performance is great and all, assuming benchmarks play out ok. But if it starts to become a "You need this card to play this game" type of releases its going to drive consumers away. I'm all for bundling games, but to give distinct advantages over one card is terrible for consumers.

The other thing is crossfire support, someone better do that asap in reviews.

If Titan or GTX 790 are +- %10 for the same price soon, I would still rather go nvidia, nothing exciting in the 290x to consider upgrading to atm.

They will come down, I would expect $599-$649. We are seeing a BF4 bundled price. We should have a better idea when the cards hit the channel.

Interesting, could this mean that there might be a disabled CU in the there somewhere?
Making a 12CU, 48 ROPS and 3072 ALU part a 290X Ultra a future possibility:sneaky:
yeah 12 with one disabled makes sense. Probably had to do it just for power consumption so we will get the real fully functioning chip once they move to smaller process.

I might pull the trigger on the 7990 at $579.99 AR.

R9 290X at Newegg for $730.00. I remember the good old days when I could afford a GPU (or stomach buying one).

BF4 + Premium is about 80-90 bucks by itself. 650$ really isn't anything outrageous even though I would have preferred it to be less.

It seems like several people are missing the fact that this is the pre-order bundled with BF4. Depending on the BF4 bundle the price of the card is anywhere from to $610-$670. It beats or matches Titan, which is $1000 card. Why do people expect AMD to just give this away at some ridiculous price that "they can afford"?

It is the BF4 Edition card which is meant to only have a few thousand examples being made and is meant to come with the premium version of BF4 and the premium pass. Even on Overclockers UK, which is the main computer enthusiast's store in the UK,they only have 50 cards in total, and only one other retailer in the UK advertised cards.

If you look at the earlier picture in this thread with the dual R9 290X cards, the cards look grey and orange in colour, not red and black. This looks very much like it was done to fit in with the BF4 box art.

That means standard cards will be cheaper.

Did I just see $730 for the BF4 Bundle on Newegg?

Wow. I told you guys that if AMD was in position to do so, they would charge out the yang. They are no different than any other company trying to make money.

Pre launch prices aren't generally based in reality. How many GPU launches have you followed? I remember quite a few and pre launch prices are always, without exception, inflated.

I wouldn't bet on the price being 730$, unless that is a specific price for BF4 + premium. I do think it will be 600$ in the end for the standard non BF4 version. We'll just wait and see on the 15th, I guess..
