I can remember those days. They seem long gone now.
Gamers having the memory span of a goldfish isn't surprising, but GTX280($649), 8800 Ultra($800) and even 1900XTX(~600$) aren't exactly ancient history.

How many GPU launches have you followed
Now, if only AMD price it reasonable around $500 and then I would be truly impressed. $600 and its just "meh".
It would be interesting to know why you think that AMD should set up price of R9 290X to 50 percent of Titan's if those cards perform equally or Radeon is even slightly faster?

To force Nvidia to lower prices on GTX780 to $550 so we can get it cheaper. 75% of people in this thread are not interested in 290X performance, but the impact on nvidia pricing...
I can give you two reasons right off the top of my head that won't even go into anything that's argumentative like drivers, sli/crossfire, etc. that usually erupts into a circus of opinions. It would be interesting to know why you think that AMD should set up price of R9 290X to 50 percent of Titan's if those cards perform equally or Radeon is even slightly faster?
Btw, 500 dollars it's less than debut price of HD 7970 (549).
If I was running the show at AMD I would release it at $700 just because of Nvidia's prices. I would let that price ride until the Mantle update for BF4 in December. Then I would wait for the Mantle reviews to come out and gauge sales from that point moving on to decide the final price.

75%?
Where did that number come from exactly?
From cross-thread obervations: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=234556875%?

80% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
Performance in. Killer card on air (RIP TITAN), sucks on LN2. 1400 MHz or so
Looks like we have a new OC champ as well. The 290X is shaping up to be a killer card.No longer. It's (Titan's) reign is over.
I, for one, thought those benchmark results shown were fake and actually lower than shown. Turns out the exact opposite is true. Well played, AMD, bloody well played.
Nice, pretty excited to get my hands on one. Won't be doing anything extreme with it, but it'll probably be going under water
