Just thought you overclocking linux lovers would like to know
Linux version of WCPUID

IMO it's kinda pointless for linux, you can get even more information about your hardware just by reading dmesg or catting proc file system... any self-respecting linux user know that anyway

i installed and am learning linux...if they can make it a tad more "freindlier", i can see where it could give mr Gates a run for his money.
and it does have a lot of interesting features.

Priit, yes but this is better it makes posting of yur WCPUID pics not just a windows thing
also finding what frequency yur mem is running at or finding all that info on the cache (not just the L2 size) is made easy
yes you could always cat /proc/cpuinfo or dmesg |more but that's not gonna tell you much more than you already know
nothing wrong with moving the programs that overclockers like to linux

Unix *is* friendly, as they say... it's just picky about who its friends are.

(Yes, linux qualifies as a unix in my book.)

If you really want user-friendliness, try Mandrake.

One thing that I miss in Linux is the app to display the current cpu and case temperature and fan speeds etc.

It's even got SMART monitor.

Mandrake is pretty good. 9.0 has been a disappointment for me so far. It's about a week now, I'm yet to
get sound working. Mdk 8.1 and 8.2 recognised the sound during installation.

It's entirely possible, but can be a bitch to get working properly (the documentation needs work IMO).

yeah i used to read the temps with lm sensors and i2c
they used to be off a bit tho cause certain companies (caugh like asus caugh) wouldn't give the developers the info they needed for the algoriths
so you would hafta open the config file and change numbers in a math equation till things were "aproximately" correct
kinda hard when you got a number multiplying then one dividing then some amount added to it
ohhh well i havn't tryed that stuff in a long time maybe things have gotten better
i'll prob give it another try when i get my desktop system back up

Yup, that's the #1 reason why linux is still lacking in support for certain hardware. It's not because of a lack of developers, it's because the hardware vendors won't release the specs for the hardware!
