NE's wrapping is adequate. I think most HDD failures are primarily a reflection of the quality of the drive.
Just look at the NE user ratings of WD HDDs versus any other brand. WDs all get about 80% ratings of 5. Seagates rarely get over 55%, often below 50%. Even Seagate's ES.2 (enterprise class) HDDs are at or below 55%. The Samsung 1TB Spinpoint is at 66%.
WDs are currently the best quality drives out there.
