My BB coupon says its for DVD-RW and 'externa'l hard drives so I didn't think it would work towards this. Anyone use the 10%/12% off coupon on this drive yet?

Yeah I dont know. Look at what cmv said. He can can backup what I said. All my seagate rebates are insanely fast. I get them within a month easy. And I buy frys seagates sometimes also, they are the same speed. I dunno why yours would be slower.

I just know my WD rebates are WAY longer than my seagate, so thats strange that you would have the opposite experience.

Was going to try my luck today for one of the 120GB'ers -- and would get one of these, too, if it's quiet enough for a htpc

I have a bunch of the WD2500JB and they seem to be the quietest I ever used.

On another note; im not even looking at this because of the rebates. I had some problems the last few months where I would send in the orginal tags and such, but got a letter back that said I didnt send in the orginal and am SOL. I had copies of everything, but the copies are not the orginal.

went to 2 best buy's today and they were cleared out of these and the seagate 120's

BUT!!... the second BB I went to had rainchecks! (didn't notice if the other store had them) Since when did BB start giving rainchecks for sale/rebate items??

Hopefully they'll get stock after the rebate expires and make an "instant" rebate out of it.
Anybody know?

I couldn't decide between this and the 120's, so I filled out rc's for both, and will decide later.
For anyone who got this deal, I'd still be interested in how noisy the drives are -- and if they are suitable for a htpc in a quiet setting.
