I just got the WD 80GB to replace a IBM 75GXP.
(Just wanted the extra space to record TV broadcasts.)
The WD is pretty much even-steven as far as I can tell with the 75GXP, which is to say they are both exemplary drives.
I've never used a 60GXP, but I heard that it's just a hairline better in performance thant the 75GXP, so I figure you can't go wrong either way.
In the Linux/Unix community though, there is some controversy about Western Digital drives. Some people say that, when operating in UDMA 66 or 100 mode, they don't do a CRC check correctly and can lead to corrupt data. Don't know how much of this is truth though.
So far, the WD Caviar 800BB in my PC has worked just perfect, but I am only running Win2K.
