The mfr rebate can be checked at rebateshq.com and the OMax one at maxmyrebates.com.

I sent them out long ago as well. I hadn't received the tracking information for the manufacturer rebate until recently. I think it was a month after I sent it.

BTW: WD never responded to my email regarding extending the rebate. Does this take a while, or did I send my email to the wrong address?

My OM Rebate for the 80 GB drive came up as valid, no problems. The rebateshq rebate, though, came up as invalid, it said I did not send a receipt. They are such idiots. This rebate had one of those new, printed out forms. For those you don't need to send a receipt or a copy. So I called them and explained that and they validated the rebate right away. So irritating that you gotta correct these people all the time.
these people are paid to screw you not to give you money!

Received my rebate confirmation e-mail today. Single $60 rebate from OfficeMax. Mailed form on 02/24 and email says OM received it on 3/09. Also got a 3 year warranty upgrade from WD. That one happened really quick. Submitted upgrade request on 3/01. WD sent response back requesting purchase information and a scanned copy of sales receipt. Sent info on 3/03 and recieved confirmation e-mail saying drive now has 3 year warranty on 3/05.

You've got to really watch OM with the rebates. I've had two come up recently as invalid for no good reason. One came up as invalid because it said that I submitted more than one rebate for the particular promotion and I know for a fact that I didn't. I called OM and called them on it and they validated it because they couldn't find a record of me submitting more than one rebate for the promotion.

I just received another invalid coupon yesterday. Apparently, I sent in the wrong UPC code. I didn't. I keep great records and I have a photocopy of the UPC that I submitted. I called OM and told them this and they said that since I'm a valued customer at OM, they are going to go ahead and validate it for me. I said thanks, but it still doesn't answer my question about sending in the wrong UPC. I read it off to the OM CSR and she didn't seem to care. I thanked her for validating my rebate and everything, but I wasn't pleased that it came up invalid in the first place for apparently no good reason.

BTW... Both rebates were for $50. Why couldn't it come up as invalid on a $3 MIR?

The moral of my pathetic little story is that even if you do everything correct, you have to watch these guys. Keep great records of your rebate submissions and don't be afraid to call the rebate center if you have a problem.

Copy EVERYTHING you submit including the addressed Stamped envelope. I'm so fanatical, I write the date it was postmarked on the copies I make.

Amongst other things I do, I keep 2 manilla envelopes (pending/not received and approved) with all my rebate submissions and check the status weekly. You've got to stay on top of these things or they'll conveniently lose your info or invalidate your submission and by the time you find out it'll be too late to resubmit.

Me too. I photocopy everything that I submit as well. I also write out a log on each rebate submission which includes where purchased, what purchased, How much the rebate is for, date submitted, what I submitted, contact email and phone numbers listed on the rebate form, address of where I submitted the rebate and promotion number. I then cross off every rebate I receive and note when I received them. If the rebate is overdue, I call the contact number. I keep all the photocopies of paperwork on everything for at least a month after I cash the rebate check to be sure that everything went through fine.

Got a question. I received a raincheck from my local store for a 160 gb hard drive. They will only give me the Officemax rebate for $20 and not the manufacturer's rebate for $50. It's not really all that great of a deal for $100 out the door without the manufacturer's rebate. My questions is, who can I contact at Officemax that would listen to my complaint? Or.. Should I just let it go?

use this e-mail address to request an upgrade of you HD to 3 years. Br e polite and request it because of the advertising error on OMs advertisement.
I just tried this and got an automated response telling me to go online and look through their FAQ. Will they still respond to my email?

I have the complete oppisite. My WD rebate came just fine, but NOT the OM rebate. I call, and after trying to talk to the person who can't understand english, they tell me to send e-mail about my problem. Fine. I do this. 1 1/2 weeks go by, and I get a reply "no record of rebate". I call again, get a different person (although they still can't speak english very well), and I explain again, and then she tells me what is pro-ma-shon code? I said what promotion code you talking about? She said on the form, I said it don't list any promotion code. Then she has me wait 5 mins, comes back, and she starts again, what is promotion code... (arggh!) I then say look, I can e-mail you a scan of the rebate form, and no where on it does it say "PROMOTION CODE". Then she said "it is 02- or 03 something". I said Oh, you mean you want the DEPT. #. "Yes sir, that is what I want..." So why didn't you ask for the Dept. # in the first place ? It is promashon code Sir. Um, and how am I supposed to know that? OK, fine, I read it off. Please wait. .... ...... 5-6 mins later... We don't have anything from you in our system. I said ok fine, what do you wish me to do? "Please go online and fill out rebate form, and enter upc & receipt info in the place provided." I was like huh? I don't see anyplace where I can send a scan of the UPC & receipt in the online form. Then she tells me if I see the box, I said yes, and she said that is where you enter receipt + UPC code... I said that is a text box, it don't accept graphics or scans. "Yes it does"... Um, no it don't. "Please hold"........ 6 mins later... "OK, please give information at email address... " So you want me to send scans of UPC + receipt to that e-mail address? "No, no need" Huh, I don't need to send anything now? "FIll form sir, send this" What form you talking about now? "Rebate form" (God, we are going in circles!) I said look, I just told you I can't send upc/receipt scans in that form. "No need" ...(ARRRGH counting to 10 not to blow a fuse) Let me get this straight, you want me to e-mail the rebate form, but not the receipt or UPC code? "No, need" So your saying you just want a scan of the rebate form? "No, no need." Then what do you want me to e-mail then? "Rebate form". I just got done asking you that, you said you didn't want the scan of the rebate form! "No, please fill out rebate form and e-mail again." I already DID e-mail the first time, and that is why I am calling this place again. "Please enter info, and they will tell you what to do" So you can't tell me what to do? "Yes, e-mail them and they help" But they didn't help last time, they just said I am not in the system.. "Sir, I do not understand" (no !#@$!@#!@!! I thought...) Ok, once more, lets start from the top, stop me when you fail to understand.

Bought 80GB HD from OFFICEMAX>
1 rebate was for $30 from officemax.
The other rebate was for $30 from Western Digital.

Understand so far? "yes"
Now, I got the WD rebate, but not the Officemax rebate.
Understand that? " When mail it?"
Mailed it same day, same time, same mail box, same mail carrier.
"What?" OK, I give her the date. "What is tracking #"? You want the tracking # for the WD? "Yes". Gave it. "Sir, we sent check out!"
NO KIDDING, I know that. "What is tracking # of other rebate?" Don't have that, as I told you, it is not in system.
"Please e-mail us and explain". I am explaining this to you, what don't you understand?
"what is promotion code?" (Geeze!) I told you, the DEPT. code is xxxxx.... "please hold". (5 mins later)
"Sir, you not in the system." sigh... let me speak your supervisor.
Hello... hello.... (!@#$!@#!@#!@#) She hung up on me.

I tried calling again, after 30 mins, I gave up waiting. (took 1 hour before I got a live person before)

WOW, this is much longer than what I wanted to type. ..

Just think, I have to go through all this again tomorrow.

Anyone got the fax #, or a e-mail address where I can send scans for rebatesHQ ?

Answers
1.) I had to fax in my WD Rebate, Parago seems to 'misplace' stuff

2.) You're not kidding, you wrote a book.

3.) Maxmyrebates is now handled by Parago (from everything I've read)

Try faxing your doccuments to
800-886-8370
-or-
972-745-8803

If you fax, be sure to include a nice cover sheet, your name, phone number, and 'please contact me if there are any questions'.

As far as I can tell, you can also e-mail your scanned doccuments in .jpg format to rebates@parago.com

Good luck! Be persistant, they bank on you forgetting about them.

Just got an email from WD that the first $30 rebate has been approved and is on its way. Still nothing from Office Max though I haven't even figured out how to track the OM rebate yet...

Keeping copies of everything submitted is a great idea. I go a step further.

Since I no copy machine here, but do have a scanner, I keep everything in jpg format (or pdf).

That way, if there's ever a need to fax or look something up quick, its available.

Each product gets it's own folder, including sub folders if multiple rebates are involved. I make another sub folder with the data I mailed the promotion under the product. When a rebate is received, the rebate form file name is updated with the words "recvd 3-12-2004" or whatever the date may be.

Under the main rebate folder, closed rebates are prefixed with the words RECVD.

At any given time, I may have 10-20 rebates open. I've used this system for the last 3 years, and to date have had great results with no unpaid rebates. I can at a glance see what rebates are still open without hunting down for the copies I made (there's way too many papers in this house as it is....).

Got my WD rebates in just fine but only got 1 of the OM rebates. The other one said invalid UPC on a post card. Called number on postcard and finally got to talk to rep. Asked rep what was wrong with UPC because I was about to send them everything again. He asked if I had a copy of the UPC in front of me. I said yes and gave him the number. He said someone must have entered the number in wrong and he would validate it. What a joke.

For those new to the rebate scene, scan or copy everything. Atleast they give us a way to follow the rebates at rebateshq.com and maxmyrebates.com

Balex99 already mentioned it, but you can check www.maxmyrebates.com to find the status of your OfficeMax Rebate.

Mine was categorized under "OfficeMax February 2004 Cash Offers".

GPz1100, I use a similar method. No use in keeping all those papers around.
I don't keep copies of the jpg files after the rebates clear the bank, although sometimes I wonder how much I've actually saved from all the rebates I've ever sent in and received...
