WD Caviar 320, Seen but not heard from

I jsut built my system. Here it is...

The problem is, the 320 is seen in Vista in the device manager and also in Cmos, but Vista is not assigning a drive letter. I researched this a bit and the jumper settings are useless for SATA. SO, anyone know whats going on here.

BTW, the Raptor is my primary and trying to use the 320 as my junk collector.

Did you partition and format it?

nope, Vista, gives me no options to do this. Or do they? i looked everywhere, assuming this was the problem, but I cant find out where to do it.

should be able to go to computer "right click"/manage/disk management and partition it form there. Other wis do it with your hard drive manufacturers software. You should be able to download it off of their website.

Not true, in XP pro, I could just right click on any HDD and format, here I actually, had to double click the little PIC of the hard drives empty space in Disk manager. and getting to disk manager was nothing like getting anywhere close to a "disk manager" in xp. XP, had nothing like this.

I suppose if Win 2k had storage management under Admin Tools in Control Panel, that XP has something like it too.

It does. Win2k, XP and Vista are essentially identical in the way they handle unformatted disks, and how your partion/format using disk manager.
