hi everyone,

just wanted to share this while its still available. this is a spin off from the 99.99 rebate deal at compusa that's good for only 2 days, Oct 8th and Oct 9th.

- compusa is selling the wd 45.0 gig for 189.99 - 90.00 rebate for total of 99.99 + taxes after rebate.

- bestbuy is selling the exact same drive for 129.99 - 30.00 rebate for total of 99.99 + taxes after rebate.

i just went to compusa, had them pricematch bestbuy's deal for 129.99 and will send in the $90 rebates for it, bringing the total price down to a whopping $39.99!! i am filling out my rebate forms now as we speak even

this is personally the best price i've seen for a 45.0 gig drive. and to think i actually spent $189.99+tax on it just 4 mos ago... argh. however, i guess i more than made up for it by purchasing 3 of them today. 135 gigs for $120 + tax = great deal hehe but before i purchased them, i did make sure to see on the rebates if there was a limit per household. there was none.

i also bought 2 of the fuji 50cdr pck. awesome price. 9.99 + tax after $10 rebate. limit of 2 per household on these.

******** For those in the san diego area, I went to the Grossmont/Lamesa store yesterday, and there were about 12 on the shelf. When I went there today, there were about 6 left, and I purchased 3 of them. I also happened to stop into the kearny mesa store and they had 17 in stock still as of around 6pm 10/8, so looks like there's plenty left for the taking.

Happy Purchasing!

edit:just a side note, the 129.99 price is not listed in bestbuy's sunday circular. i just found out from reading the previous thread that someone had posted that it was on sale for that price. i brought bestbuy's phone# along w/ me and gave it to the rep at compusa to call up. i guess the one catch i failed to mention earlier was that bestbuy has to have it in stock for them to pricematch. which they did... they had 6 in stock at the time. you might want to call around and find the bestbuy that has it in stock and give them that store's phn# to verify.

I'll try this tomorrow. How did you get CompUSA to price-match? It's not in Best Buy's circular for this week.

I don't think it's in the flyer. That's just probably their normal price. But I don't see the drive on BestBuy.com either.

I think I'll try tomorrow. Got a best buy and a CompUSA about 10 minutes from work. If Best Buy has it in stock, I'll check CompUSA and see if they will pricematch. Seems like a decent deal to me.

just a friendly reminder that the 39.99 + tax price is after rebate

i paid $140.06 (HD w/ tax) x 3 = $421.80

plus $21.54 (Fuji 50spindle(r)) x 2 = 43.08

total of = 464.88 out the door

464.88 - 270 (HD rebate) - 20 (Fuji) ==>> 174.88 after rebate w/ taxes.

not too bad for three 45gig drives and 2 spindles of fuji cdrs!

For those of you looking for the Best Buy Ad, you'll notice in the lower half of the original message, the ad doesn't exist.

BUT

Can this deal be placed on-line or over the phone?
Buy.Com has the drive for $169.
CC=$199
BB=?

The lowest price on Pricewatch is still $137.

Will CompUSA do a pricematch over the phone?

Spindler if you paid for 3 drives on the same receipt how do expect to get the 3 rebates?, Usually it's one rebate to a customer with original receipt.

Spindler,
You mean you found 3 45G before everyone got in? My local store was out within the first 5 minutes they open the door, and sold more than 20 of them.

hi kbtrade,

the bestbuy price is NOT listed in the sunday circular ads. it was mentioned in a previous thread by someone else that he picked it up for 129.99 . all i did was call bestbuy up and see if they had it for that price. they did. and they had 6 in stock. and the rest, as they say it, is history

i really dont know if thats the sale price or the normal everyday price. and actually, i'm gonna go dig up that thread and give credit where credit is due..... alfonsors , thnks for posting about that the bestbuy deal.

as far as the receipts go, i had them print up 3 receipts for me. 2 of them w/ a HD and a Fuji spindle, and the last one w/ just the hard drive.

yup compusa does pricematches...

i doubt any COMPUSA in the US has any, uunless there are some being held for employees. I work there and they were all gone about 3 hours into the day.

i checked at about 1 today and it the computer showed we had about 90 in the Entire US left.

i'd bet most of those are being held for employees.

frank, I just checked the website for my store and it said it is in stock- does that mean anything??
I have to make a long drive to give this a try, and don't really want to if there's no chance!

Thanks Spindler
hmmm...I just remembered I have a 10% off coupon that is good thru 10/9 at Best Buy good on computer accessories (is a hard drive considered computer accessories? )
If CompUSA is out of them this may not be a bad deal for me, $129 less 10%= $116, minus $30 rebate = $86 ...not as good as the price match though

<< Text":

Might have to go back tomm. and pick up a few more ~ especially if my local BB has this drive in stock and at a PM'ing option. Easy solution to a cheap and easy RAID scenario. If anyone has some thoughts on the RAID possibilites pleaselet me know.

Good Luck on this everyone and a THANKS to alfonsors and Spindler
