WD Green drives - going away?

I've noticed that on looking for the WD Green drives at NewEgg, there is a link saying

"A newer version of this item is available"

On following the link, the "new" version is a Blue drive. On that page is a video entitled "Every drive has a purpose". All the drive families are shown with the exception of the Green drives - and a new color, Gold, representing Datacenter drives.

The Greens are still in the product listing, however.

Does anyone know what's up?

No idea.

Conjecture: the WD Greens have an (undeserved, really) reputation as mediocre, slow, cheap drives. Replacing them with the Blues wouldn't cost WD anything (basically the same drives.) And it would save WD some money on product differentiation.

WD re-branded Green HDDs as Blue HDDs. Now you have to search for the part number to find which is which (7200rpm or 5400rpm). They say that it is simpler this way.

The newer MyBooks are coming with Blues instead of Greens now

The only thing I have seen from this is a slow increase in price for the local green drives (ie: size and speed green, though now called blue).
