well i have a western digital 8mb caviar drive. and have just gotten a new one from WD threw RMAing my other drive that died. now when i was waitting for the 80 gig drive to come from WD i used an old extra drive that i took out of another computer that was a WD 40 gig with 2mb cach on it, now i installed windows on it and doom3 and other games and it worked fine. then when i got the new 80 gig drive from WD, wich im using now as well. and installed all my games again, like doom3 and when i played doom3 for the first time with the new drive, it was chopping and everytime i would go to open doors the computer would freez up for a second and the hard drive light would be going and then it rould open the door and the game would continue. now why is the computer doing that? im asuming that the hard drive is bad? because thats the only thing i have changed on the system. also the screen saver only works half the time. some times it turns on and some times it leaves my monitor on the whole time. my old 80 gig that i origenaly had did the same thing but the screen saver never worked and when i went to reinstall windows it told my drive was bad and never made it threw the full format.
