how much faster are sata drives anyway? i dont find it justified to spend $100+ on a 36GB when i can get a 200GB regular ide for that same cost.

i say it's welll worth it....my roommate has one...his puny xp1800 kicks my xp2400 w/ 1 gb of RAM anyday cuz his hdd is faster...all his apps load much faster than my stupid 45 gb maxtor 7200rpm hdd...

Depending which one you are talking about but in case of Raptor that is obvious: 5.2 ms seek time as compared to standard of more than 8 ms. That gotta be a major advantage. I say parallel is dead for all purposes except for the price.

I guess it should be mentioned that $113 deal is dead for most people. Dell fixed the glitch that was giving the second 15% discount. The drive is now $133.41 before any additional discounts that you may be able to find.
