WD Raptor + MSI 865 PE NEO 2 - HDD booting as UDMA2 instead of SATA?

Hi guys,

I just replaced my WD Caviar 800 with a WD Raptor 360 10k (yay!) and noticed that when it posts, it displays the Raptor as booting to transfer mode UDMA 2 instead of SATA.

Ive checked both WD and MSI's websites for a solution but I haven't found any...

1- I'm assuming that it drive being recognized in UDMA2 mode is abmormal right? Or is it a glitch?

2- Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the SATA drive to be recognized to run as such? Or, does anyone know of a windows 32 based diagnostic that will let me test or verify the real time transfer mode of the drive so I can sleep easier at night?

PS - YES I did use a SATA 150 ribbon and the board supports (onboard) 2 SATA 150 devices, in case you were guessing that might be the problem.

HD Tach will tell you the truth.

Is it properly recognized in the BIOS? I cannot remember the proper terms, but there is a section in the Device Manager on the controller section where it asks you whether the bios or the chipset controls the HDD transfer. Let me check it out and I'll get back to you.

Comparison results vs. another WD Raptor 36gb

Well according to this test, I'm not doing so bad It shows that my drive is outperforming the 'average' WD SATA Raptor configuration. However, even at 125.5 mbs it's falling short of 150.

I guess the important thing is that it's not really running UDMA 2, at least from what this performance test shows...

Yeah, my ATA133 drive falls well short of 133 too....
