Yeah I talked to them, they said they are "trying" to cancel it but it still might get out, so I have to refuse it if it does come (and it won't be 50 hardrives).

Whatever happened to :

What about ETHICS?

If you question whether a deal is real or a mistake, call or write the company, and ask. If it is a valid deal, post it. If it isn't, DO NOT post it, and DO NOT complain about it.

Not that this stuff isn't worth a laugh.

If you just ordered and they didn't fulfill their end, you would be screwed

but with that screen capture!

He purchased from a different vendor than some of us did, so there's a very slight chance it may still happen.

Heh, this posting is all sorts of weird. A 50 pack of 2.5" 500gb hard drives for $120, with free shipping, despite a shipping weight of "22lbs" and product dimensions "4.2 ounces". Riiiiiiight.

The product description is correct. 50 items at 4.2 ounces each, total shipping weight of 22lbs. Check the product dimensions of other laptop drives on amazon. They'll say 4.2 ounce and 1lbs shipping weight. And if the item sold for the correct price for $50 (around 6k) then free shipping might not be that outrageous.

It looks like amazon mistakenly placed single drive items under the pack of 50 listing. The 'too good to be true' logic check should kick in here.

Yes I have.. and it wouldn't be the first time I have gotten a bulk deal from an Amazon partner
who is bound by Amazons terms. Like I said.. we will see. The last deal was shipped.

If your order went through to Buy.com, I imagine you will receive the following item:

http://www.buy.com/prod/wester...loc/101/209246493.html

Isn't Buy.com sort of like a broker that lets other companies sell through them? And Amazon.com is sort of like another broker that lets Buy.com advertise on their site? I wonder what the legal implications are. You might think that Amazon would make good on the deal, but when it's obviously a price mistake (and this one certainly is), then maybe they won't. Who knows?

Years ago, I bought a '50pk' of Soundblaster Live cards for the price of one...from Amazon, no less. I received one card in an antistatic bag with no other packing material- in a largish box. I sent it back.

"Hello,

Please know that we have shipped your order for the following product:

WD Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT - Hard drive - 500 GB - internal - 2.5 - SATA-300 - 5400 rpm - buffer: 8 MB (pack of 50 )
500GB CAVIAR 2.5 SATA II BLACK
SKU: U76945 MANUF. SKU: WD5000BEVT

However, there was a description error on Amazon and the product was listed as a "pack of 50". This is a single hard drive and not a "pack of 50". We are sorry for the error and hope that you did not order this product hoping for a "pack of 50".

Should you have any questions or concerns or would like to return the product please go to http://support.a1books.com.

Thank you and again we apologize for any inconvenience due to the Amazon product description error.

Sincerely,
A1books "

As expected, and it no longer says '50 pk' in the description at amazon.

After contacting BuyNow.com regarding their return policy for items delivered not as described I received the following email:

Hello Paul,

Thank you for contacting BuyNow.

Looking at this item, unfortunately the UPC number we provided Amazon
did not match what they had listed. This is definitely not the way we
want to run our Marketplace store.

It appears that Amazon.com has identified the discrepancy and has now
corrected the product description, the " (pack of 50) " has been removed
and updated by Amazon.com.

SDGU/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1227460642&sr=11-1

We want to give you a couple of options and you can let us know what you
would like. You can either keep the item that has already shipped and
we will give you a partial refund of $50.00 or you can have the item
returned for a full refund. In the event of a return, we will supply you
with a UPS pre-paid shipping label and RMA number.

Once you tell us what you would like we will proceed further.

Your business is very important to us and again, we truly apologize for
the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Charles
BuyNow Inc

While I didn't realistically expect to receive 50 HDD's, that's some pretty sweet customer service from BuyNow (Buy.com). $50 off brings the price down to $70 for this 500GB drive ... pretty hot to me, 50 HDDs or not.

If you bought one thru these guys, send them an email via Amazon's contact 3rd party vendor service.

This looked to me like an "honest mistake" from the get-go, and it looks like it did not pan out for most people who ordered. And then these deals hardly ever work if they are posted in a forum like this. If the price is too good there seem to always be people, who instead of risking to simply order the item, have to ask or otherwise notify the vendor.
