Probably ~1.28 TB (320x4), I'd think. These drives are the highest density available, 320 GB per platter. I'm guessing they'll eventually do 3 and 4 platter versions of these.

Yeah, I'm hoping the 1TB drives will drop to $99 in short order so that I can build my next monster file server. So if a 1.28TB drive comes out, that will make the price drop on the 1TB model I want

its not that great, its about 10% off normal price. Better than nothing if your looking for a HD.

I'm used to seeing 500gb drives for $99 and more recently $89, so $99 for an extra 140gb of space seems like a pretty nice deal!

nobody mentioned it in this thread, so I'll say it. these are uber fast drives with excellent avg sustained throughput numbers. outperforms virtually every other sata drive out there. flame on if I lie.

I'm glad someone pointed that out. The price/GB makes this a good deal but its high density makes it a hot deal. SATA has lots of advantages and that's why it's becoming the new industry standard but in terms of sustained transfer rates PATA has yet to be maxed out and thus the only really important reason to pick SATA over it is whether you expect your system to support it.
