We all know the real reason for Sony discontinuing the 20GB PS3

Recently I had began to consider purchasing a PS3. For $559 CAD, the 20GB PS3 was a decent deal compared to the 360 Elite, which is listed at the same price. Unfortunately, nowhere seemed to list them and everybody had been OOS since launch. After denying the demise of the 20GB unit for so long, finally Sony announces that it is discontinued, with the statement that there was not enough demand. Of course there was no demand! They were never available for purchase! It is obvious to anyone with at least basic knowledge of computer hardware and economics that Sony was losing more money on the 20GB unit than the 60GB one. IIRC, the publicized costs for the 20 vs. 60 were not that different, far less than the $100 USD price difference would have suggested. Of course a card reader, 802.11g wireless card, and a slightly larger HDD don't cost that much more. It is unfortunate that I now won't be buying a PS3 (not that i'll miss out on games much).

Well i paid ~ $450 for my 60gb PS3. I haven't used it much for games other than Motorstorm, which i suck it... But i got hooked on Blu-Ray movies... So much so, that I'm having a hard time even considering selling the dang thing...

If I bought one it would be all about the blu-ray....I'd prefer to wait until some decent games are out and the hddvd/bluray thing gets a little sorted
if i could get a brand new 60gb for $450 I'd probably bite the bullet though

I can get it for $400 but I still have a hard time justifying the purchase.

I'm picking one up Monday. I'm going to trade in my 360 as well since there isn't a single damn game worth owning (I still have my original Xbox, which had tons of great games). I'm buying it mainly for PS1 and PS2 games right now though But I know I'll want one later on for MGS4 and FF13.

I realize that may contradict my statement about buying a PS3 purely for PS1 and 2 games, but I have tons of those games, and no PS2 anymore And I have my old Xbox to play my old games on.

While those aren't out yet let us not overlook the nice stable that is...

- Gears of War (shoot, it's outsold everything else)
- Oblivion (darn pretty and great gameplay)
- Splinter Cell: Double Agent (fuggin beautiful and awesome gameplay)
- GRAW 2 (nuff said)
- Dead Rising
- Guitar Hero 2
- The endless classics and short games that is Live Arcade

And you can make your own. Yes, that's right, make your own. XNA

Nope - Dead Rising is 360 exclusive. And several reviewers (ign, gamespot) have said SCA and Oblivion both look better on the 360.

Here's a revised list of 360 exclusives (not counting arcade). Most are out now.

Funny how I've been playing Oblivion on my PS3 for the past few weeks, and my buddy has beat it multiple times on PC before.

your exclusives don'tr seem to be that exclusive

I've never seen Oblivion on 360 but a friend of mine who owns it came over and saw me playing it on PC and immediately said "Damn, looks way nice on PC." In fairness though, he has an SD CRT TV.

Yeah...that isn't even a close comparison...but the PC version does look better.

I'll give you SC, but I've seen more reports that Oblivion is better looking on the PS3. You also have the benefit of better loading times.

Yeah...that isn't even a close comparison...but the PC version can look better, depending on your video card.

Got me there... Oblivion def isn't an exclusive. I had to quote web sites on the look because I've not seen it on a PS3, just a 360 and PC.

Some of you guys are forgetting not everyone has $400 graphics cards in their PC.

As I said earlier, there isn't one game that's out on PC and Xbox360 that looks better on my PC than Xbox360.

And I don't plan on upgrading any time in the near future whatsoever.
