I think it's not only whites moving out of Houston but successful minorities as well. The make up of the neighborhood where I live is 35% white, 35% Hispanic, 20% African-American, and 10% Asian.

Many of my Hispanic and African-American neighbors have told me their old neighborhoods weren't safe for anyone living there and they have no desire to visit anymore.

We have a very active Homeowners Association and neighborhood watch program, there hasn't been any break ins or robberies since I moved here from Virginia in May 2008. I haven't seen any conflicts between neighbors either as most parties take place at the community center/pool and any loud music must stop at 11pm.

I remember going to Willowbrook mall as a kid and seeing all the nice shops and couples. Now it seems to be Mexican Families with 4 screaming kids speaking in spanish.

California went the same way.

Whole Southwest has gone to a foreign population. Immigration bill will attempt to seal what is already the deal. I mean, it's not like they have to take any action to keep it happening - they just want to drop any pretense that it isn't legal and established precedent.

I'm from Houston, born and raised.

The city sucks, it's VERY segregated and the white population has been moving out the past few decades, nice neighborhoods become trashed and torn up (Greenspoint (Gunspoint) or Willowbrook anyone?).

I welcome educated blacks, mexicans, asians, and even whites to move into my neighborhood and become my neighbors...I really do. What ends up happening whatever area that is Nice, but not OVERLY expensive becomes another third ward. I remember going to Willowbrook mall as a kid and seeing all the nice shops and couples. Now it seems to be Mexican Families with 4 screaming kids speaking in spanish. I blame the growing number of cheap apartments.

People segregate themselves into what they feel comfortable with, it's only natural. Houston has a lot of gangbangers that think the "Thuggin it and Lovin it" lifestyle is acceptable. I don't want to live around anyone like that. Then you have Quanell X going around preaching hate and how blacks are repressed...fool should look in the mirror. He's proceeding into his self-fulfilling prophecy...no one wants to be around someone who thinks they are better than anyone else.

People just don't know WTF being Racist means anymore. If you profile someone based on their looks/how the represent themselves but they happen to be black/hispanic/asian it does NOT make you racist. We project how we want to be seen, you have a choice between representing yourself as a well dress well mannered GROWN and MATURE person, or you represent yourself as a slob, thug, bum.

I can honestly say I personally don't know a single pure racist that will blow anyone off/hate someone because of the color of their skin.

And you can be racist in the racial hatred manner with the "X race is the bad race". It is not even uncommon to see the latter. I've known white people that hated black and hispanic people but were fine with asian people. I've met hispanic people that hated black and Indian people. Hell, I've known A LOT of Indian people who had no problem with white people but hated black people.
