Yep! It's pretty obvious that Trump has committed a number of impeachable offenses. Until things change in a political sense though he's not being impeached for them.

Opinion? We all saw Trump say on national TV that he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation. Is that not proof of obstruction of justice?

You don't think those can be proved? It's true that the republicans won't let this get very far, but to their peril (IMO). I believe that there are enough logical swing voters to see this and change their vote from republican to democrat in 2018. Again, I think the dems are banking on that. It's also true that the illogical base will be more energized by this. It's a gamble, but worth it (IMO).

The last paragraph is what matters. The Republicans won't allow things get to the impeachment phase at this time and so pushing this would backfire. I'm not saying you are wrong about that happened but it cannot be overstated that this is not a matter of criminal or civil law. This is about opinions as spun. The majority wins.

With that said we have not heard of criminal acts by Trump. Assuming there are and Mueller discovers and prosecutes then the Reps are up a creek. They wouldn't have principles but crimes with consequences they would have to dismiss and I suspect that any case the prosecutors bring would be very strong.

BTW there is a saying that a sitting President cannot be indicted.Ken Starr cast serious doubt on that being the case. In natural law there is the principle of "no man should be his own judge" meaning in this case that a President should not judge himself above the law and remove himself from criminal accountability. It would be hard to imaging the Founders intending any person to be absolutely above the law. If it went to the SCOTUS it may be decided based on that at least in part. There is no explicit Constitutional exemption from the consequences of one's actions.
