if we dont downgrade all RC5 clients to 463.

Yesterday, The Core received over 105K from these clients. I just found a few systems of mine, worth 1.3K daily still running on 465.

If we dont downgrade fast, that's 105K we will lose DAILY.

There is no notice on our site frontpage, no post has been made on the mailing list.

Some TA representative please try to contact all possible members by any means. Bump this thread, as dnets message is going down.

What else can we do to locate users running 465-466 clients ? pproxy operators may have means.

I dont know the impact on OGR, will stubs be discarded too ?

LeBlatt - consider this a bump.

Also, one of the options in ppstats (which is what I run locally and the team uses for its round robin) is the "By Client version" stat, which shows the number of blocks submitted by client version, eg., 8010, 8012, etc. "Full Detail" also does this. This will give TA some idea as to how many blocks are being submitted with the recalled client (and thus how many might be lost when the cutover occurs).

If you look at the detail for a particular host, it will also tell you what client version that host is running.

Except for those who have been cracking for awhile and haven't bother to upgrade, I think it's up to the Team to encourage the newbies (because they are most likely to be running the newest versions by default) to double-check and get downgraded.

Also, I recall Moose saying something about what the bug did and it did have something to do with OGR - ie., apparently doing a switch from RC5 to OGR (or perhaps vice versa) would in some cases cause a sudden upload of unprocessed RC5 blocks that got counted as being processed... or something along that line.

Our PProxies can save our butts, but only if their operators publish the e-mail's of the people still submitting from 466 or 465 clients. It is in their logs, but not listed in ppstats.

Whether they paste in the edited log entries, or just e-mail them, it must be done.

I think I still have one new assimilee to fix, but that should be it.

Go, team, Go

Uh oh... seems the only clients that works for my purposes is 465. I thought only 466 had a problem.

I flushed my last 465/466 blocks yesterday... might've been others that did the same too and thus created a "large" surge of those blocks couldn't it?? Let's have more material than just one days worth before we completely panic ok?

Windogg, don't worry the clients will be back when they've got the bug worked out... We'll just have to hope they get it worded out RIGHT NOW!

With love and respect your fellow TA member

Hmmm... need to update ~30 clients. I'm thinking of changing the login script remotely. Only problem is that many of the systems are notebooks and they are usually on the road for weeks without ever logging into the LAN.

JonB - I just did a quicky comparison of my ppstats configuration to the team's and the critical difference would be the "By Hosts" stats option that's not enabled on the team's ppstats. That's where I was seeing the client version show up on mine...

Taking a look at blocks flushed through Mika's yesterday, a bit over 237,000 blocks were submitted with clients from the 8011 & 8012 series. Not a massive number but in the race to sustain at least 1-2,000,000 blocks/day, it could become significant.

Two-Face, you're absolutely right. How else could the DPC's flush those amounts? We (unfortunately) cannot flush that much every day.

I will compile a list of all the email addresses who submitted blocks yesterday using 8011 and 8012 clients (including how many blocks were submitted.

This should help people who are not sure if they have all their clients downgraded.

ACK!!!

There are a LOT of people on that list. :Q

We need to get the word out now, before the cutoff. TA can ill afford to lose that many blocks...

I will contact those that I know of on that list.

At our pproxy, we have a total of about 380,000 blocks submitted using the wrong client. This roughly equals the production from those flushing that aren't members of TA Cube. So, head here. If you see your eMail address, CHECK YOUR CLIENT.

Thanks for the email on this! I've now downgraded the two hosts client software to 8010-463 (linux, not "b" version for me).

Quick note, and I'm not trying to be a spelling nazi here, but it's lose, not loose. Loose is how clothing can fit, woman can be, or what I can do with my dogs on someone I dislike. Lose, on the otherhand, means unable to retain posession of something, like RC5 blocks from the incorrect client version.

What is wrong with the newer clients? I've been looking through the d.net plans and I don't see an announcement about it?

I do have many 466 clients. I'm currently trying to downgrade ASAP all the machines I can reach... I think I'll not be able to downgrade all of them... My clients are spread in all Brittany (In France, not great britain... ) They are work machines. I can trace them with my work pproxy so I can locate the wrong clients but I don't go on regular basis there. I have to wait a call to repair or install something before I could downgrade those faulty clients...
I'm aware of the problem and I'm doing my best...but I'm sure to be one of the last on Mika's list...

Damaged : Leblatt is french as I am. Today I've learned a new word. Thanks. I hope to be readable ?
