From Newsmax:

Sarin Nerve Agent Found in Iraq?

An artillery shell loaded with what is being described as "a Sarin nerve agent" has been found in Iraq by the U.S. military, Fox News Channel is reporting.

CentCom spokesman Gen. Mark Kimmit confirmed Monday that the Sarin-filled shell was discovered on a roadside in Iraq.

The shell detonated and released a small amount of the toxin, Kimmitt said.

No injuries were reported.

Funny it only took four (4) planes to kill 3000+ people. But thats another topic.

Funny, you bring up 9/11 and we're talking about some artillery shell in Iraq. Care to elaborate on the connection?

It's on CNN now. It should be on a few others soon if it hasn't been posted yet.

Naw, if you didn't get it the first go round then you won't if I tried....

The best part about this is the fact that if this was found in someones backyard here in the US everyone would care about the impact.

But since it is over there, and maybe a few GI's were exposed it's OK...

Well, we had to deploy 130,000 troops, lose hundreds of soldiers, kill thousands of Iraqis, and spend 135 billion dollars, but WE GOT THE SHELL DAMMIT, WE GOT THE SHELL!

Fox is going to TOWN on this. "Tip of the ice-berg!" "First discovery of WMD's!"

Meanwhile the General in the back is going... "yeah, it was really nothing. very small amount. anyone exposed has already been released from medical care."

No please, I'd really like to hear your explanation. What is the connection? You brought it up, not me. Perhaps if you fear I won't "get it" I can have someone with perhaps an intellect nearly as high as your own to translate your explanation into simple terms for me to understand, because you're right, I'm really having difficulty seeing a connection between 4 commercial jet liners ladened with full tanks of jet fuel and travelling 575 MPH, and an artillery shell allegedly containing Sarin nerve gas which may of exposed two soldiers.

Even though this is the ONLY thing we have really found it could very well be....or it could be just some other countries' brew. Who knows....its too soon to really say anything yet besides that they have found something.

Um, both can be used by terrorists to kill many many innocent people?

That was the longest 45 minutes in the history of the world. When do the Geiger counters actually start picking up the radiation?

Amazing! Hero gets it...

Oh and Loz don't get me wrong. I am a Bush supporter, but I think that Iraq is one big mess now.

The thing I keep telling people is the fact that Saddam knew we were comming and had more than one (1) month to make Iraq a non-WMD area. IE: I call you on the phone and accuse you of having sarin gas stored in your home. I will be over with a warrant in one (1) hour.. What would you do?

By forcing sand down one's throat, you may cause death to innocent people by asphixiation. Iraq has alot of sand. Better send that one to Fox News.

And the question remains, what does 9/11 have to do with this?

one month is not much time to retrieve ALL those WMDs Saddam allegedly possesses from secret bunkers and buried caches and destroy them, let alone do that without any trace. Remember, during this time America was grasping for any evidence that points to WMDs, going so far as to make fictional drawings of a supposed 'mobile weapons lab'.

So your trying to say it is pointless to go invade Iraq over WMD because WMD are less leathal then airplanes? and rather then looking for gas in the desert that "exposed" two people we should being the hunt for building and airplanes?

David Kay just stated that the shell was likely from the Iran-Iraq War period, circa 1985. Called it the "safest" way to store and disburse the gas. An Iraqi rep was asked if there is any safety concern in Iraq, and he replied that the device does not have any type of high impact.

I doubt this is what the Bush admin had in mind when they began their search for WMDs. If so, however, it does show how desperate things have become politically.

Sure. We should be looking for planes and buildings with terrorists in them. Both planes with terrorists in them (which is what was used on 9/11) and WMD serve no positive purpose and only exist to kill people.

You all seem to have forgotten about the Anthrax that killed several people right after 9/11. That was one envelope. That, to me, was a thousand times scarier than the planes.

I thought most of these chemicals breakdown over a period of time

A lot of them breakdown after a few years. I'm not sure about the shelf-life of Sarin though.

Thats what the liberals here have been trying to tell you from day 1! First you claim that 12-year-old WMDs are still in use, therefore we should go to war. And nnooooow you finally admit that few WMD's last that long?

One a sidenote, its sickening to find people in this thread HAPPY that we supposedly got hit by a WMD. We were supposed to find them, not poke the enemy in the eye until they fire one at us!

Which probably means it has "Made in America" stamped on it somewhere.

What's your point?

teiresias, you gotta understand that under the viewpoint of some groups that will be unnamed, its okay for the US to give a chaotic country deadly WMDs (because this country does no wrong, right?), but its not okay if the country doesn't use them all when asked - and has some left over.
