To those who believe that masks don't work...

When you find yourself in an operating room some day (and the odds are that will happen in your life) be sure to tell the Docs and OR staff that they won't be needing those crappy masks for your operation! Nope, no need for them since they are ineffective at reducing the spread of germs and the like. You want their faces to be free, as God intended them to be. In addition, and when you get Covid please stay home and recover since you believe that it's no big deal to get it.

Have trouble breathing? Tough crap... suck it up and tough it out, Buttercup.

"doctor" eli david is full of shit on covid again and again. of course @s0me0nesmind1 gets duped. he's the most credulous person on here.

Just for the sake of knowledge, Doctor Eli David is NOT a medical doctor who's full of shit on covid again and again. He is a PhD in computer science who is full of shit on covid again and again.

Even actual medical doctors can be full of shit.

An orthopedist at my brother's hospital advised his patient against getting the vaccine because it might "affect her healing"...she died of covid a month later.

These people may--or may not--be experts in their field. That doesn't mean they know shit about epidemiology. Being a doctor *should* mean you are very intelligent and employ good critical thinking skills...and probably that is the case for most.

Ben Carson literally wrote the book on brain surgery. He's brilliant in his field. He's as dumb as a box of rocks in other ways, and that's giving him credit for just being ignorant and not mentally ill. He should be a case study in not trusting doctors that are out of their field.

There are lots of really bad Docs out there because what they do is called "practicing medicine"...lol! Now take your car to a practicing mechanic and see how that works!

Docs can be really stupid because they think they are really smart. I deal with them in my work, trust me on this.

Is Ben Carson actually brilliant in his field? I've always wondered how you reconcile that with the rest of his public image.

That is my understanding, which could be mistaken. He definitely was at or near the top of the neurosurgery field, and pediatric neurosurgery at that, and at John Hopkins. He pioneered some brain stem transplant stuff I think.

I'll give him credit for all that, but wouldn't ask him for advice about covid necessarily even without knowing the goofy stuff he's said and done politically (and I can't unsee the huge drawing of him and Jesus in his living room..wtf). When's the last time he had an epidemiology class, or paid any attention to that field? One reason people get so good at one thing is that they only focus on that (not always).

A family doc should be learning as much as possible about covid right now. People are going to go to them expecting information. And probably most of them are trying to learn the science. I'd still get multiple opinions if my doc told me something that doesn't square with my own non-youtube, non-facebook research.

There's some things unique that I've seen of surgeons, especially ones that practically live in OR's. They are borderline sociopath personality types and absolutely abysmal when it comes to human interaction. I don't know if that's a product of just devoting that much of your life to a practice, or some self selection that was pre-existing.

I knew one that in the little bit of spare time he had, he would neuter cats for a hobby. Another would do echos and heart surgery on million dollar derby horses.

Anti-maskers threatening the lives of school board members, yet the idiot OP thinks protecting others from virus spread is the cult
'We know who you are - we will find you' Furious parents issue threat over new school mask mandate | Daily Mail Online

They weren’t just threatening school board members—they were threatening any parent who wore a mask inside (because presumably they also supported the mandate.)

Why can’t these shit-for-brains understand that masked parents have every right to be heard as the unmasked? They can’t help but fash things up every chance they get? Someone needed to tell that angry crowd “FUCK YOUR FEELINGS!”, except they’d likely be shot.

I think the naysayers, the anti maskers have been given enough of their 15 minutes of fame. When you think of how this hurts countless numbers of hospitals and hospital workers and teachers and the wellness of society in general, it’s time the naysayers were put in their place. Ignore them, rebuke them, and damnit arrest them when they act up. They’ve had their fun. They’ve expressed their side. And like a spoiled rotten brat they’ve gotten some undeserving attention. But none of this is really about them now is it? Or what they want, now is it? It’s all about hospital workers and ICU wards and protecting society against sickness, disease, and more deadly variants. It’s about the real world vs the la la land that they prefer to live in.

I shit you not, but I have a cousin who thinks the reason democrats want people (and especially kids) to wear masks is so they can kidnap them and force them into sex trafficking and somehow wearing a mask makes you a target because other people cannot see your face.

He's not planning a visit to Mexico with a harpoon gun anytime soon, right? Right?
That cousin sounds one step shy.

It is tribalism. Wearing a mask means you are a Democrat. Correct, "Demoncrat". With the temperature of our current political climate, any enemies that are flagged are also confronted. There is no room in America for the other political party to exist. That is why they are hostile towards people wearing masks. It is the equivalent of wearing a MAGA hat last year. A red flag in front of a bull.

What's funny about that nym is that it's a nick that was given to me by my friends and family because I have this ability to bring dying and dead shit back to life. Luckily my 'patients' are inanimate objects like computer parts. Unlike a real shitty Doc, I can make it right if I inadvertently kill a patient.

Docs just keep practicing...

As I said before, I welcome good science that says we shouldn't bother with masks. I hate wearing them.
Be careful what you wish for, you may get it. I don't mind wearing a mask all that much. I remember when seeing a person wearing a mask in my town was a very rare occurrence. I doubt that will ever be the case again.

I saw a post from a doctor a couple weeks ago saying she figured she'd be wearing a mask for the rest of her life when on mass transit. I haven't been on mass transit since Mar. 1, 2020. However, I think I may do the same.

I hope you don't think the two examples you gave are indicators of psychopathy because both of those seem pretty good things.

I may get someone posting valid studies about how masks don't work? I doubt it, that seems to be counter-factual.

All I want is objective truth. If masks truly did nothing, then I want to know.

I went to China years ago, lots of people wearing masks. Some I knew there said they wore their surgical masks to help with the smog and pollution. Er, it does nothing to protect you from that. It might help you avoid getting sick, sure.

Masks suck if you wear glasses, they really do. I've yet to find any k95s or other more serious ones that don't the ears on my big head, I've got some coming that a fellow big-melon told me about, we'll see. I'll still wear them until they are proven ineffective, which again at this point the science (and evidence in places like Japan) are becoming more clear--they do help. In no way shape or form is someone telling me to wear a mask some assault on my freedom, that is childish.

Case in point, people and companies spending a lot of money and energy "disinfecting" everything, including washing down the groceries. Limiting store hours so they could scrub surfaces-- limiting store hours meant that more people had to crowd in over less time, it was counter-productive. Expanding store hours would have probably meant less spread. And as we grew to learn, very few cases were ever shown to have spread through fomites on surfaces. Basically none in the scheme of things. Granted--we didn't know that at first, and science started showing the way. But it did some damage in my opinion, by wearing people out taking measures that did nothing to help the situation. No blame, again, we just didn't know. If this was in fact really like the Flu, it would have helped a lot.
