I have asked this question not long ago, but when I came back to see the replies that I had, it seems that this message disappeared.....so here goes again

What I am trying to do is make a keyword search on a page. What I have right now is a list of keywords each certain name, with there being around 15 names. My question is, how the hell do I get this going? I don't know what it has to be coded in and how.....If anyone has a pointer to a web site that could help with this kind of thing or some help to offer themselves, I would be very grateful.

If you are running this on your own server, you could use Active Server Pages and write the code in VB Script. This page may give you some help. http://www.aspwatch.com/
You can see how to read use database files, excel spreadsheets, etc on your web pages.

Alot of times perl/CGI is alot more friendly, it being non-object oriented. Let me tell, object-oriented is a B**ch to learn if you don't have something good to teach you. For some perl stuff try www.wdvl.com, it also has lots of web stuff.

Perl 'supports' object oriented programming, there is a slight diffrence as it can be written with diffrent styles.

Thou the server is more of an issue here because that will dictate what languages can be supported.

I would write it in PHP any day as is more portable that all of them, will beat VB perfomance wise and both of them in readability.

Since the search capabilities are not going to be very large (we are talking maybe 50 items, I was thinking about using an array in javascript. I can't use ASP or SQL and I don't know CGI or Perl....So am pretty stuck there.

Could anyone help me as to how to display the information? I have learnt how to read in the information and how to setup the array and things like that, but what my script relies on is a set of if-then statements in order to get the right answer. How so I display the results of these if-then statements?
