Web Programming Suggestions?

I feel like programming something, I'm thinking a game. Since this is just a sudden urge to program, I don't want it to be complex. I just want something text-based. I'm not talking text-based where the text flies around the screen. I'm talking links and plain text. I also don't want to use a database. I guess I could do a card game or perhaps a choose your own adventure game, although that would take much more thought in it. Any suggestions?

guess a number?
port some old Basic game like Star Trek or Hunt the Wumpus?

kind of hard to do something very interesting without it being complex and/or requiring a database

Some company bought the rights to the old BBS TW2002 game and are remaking it with graphics and stuff.

im writing in coldfusion for this one. its much simpler for this. ive actually thought through some of the logic on it and its not too bad with coldfusion at all. it would be harder in php. i thought about how to write it in both.

its like prepackaged scripts in tags. while some of it is almost identical to regular coding in terms of structure, it allows for easier coding for a lot of things. although it is limited with a lot of things but if youre creative you can work around the limitations.

here are some examples:
<CFIF Variable EQ "this string">
<CFOUTPUT>Variable is #Variable#</CFOUTPUT>
</CFIF>

relatively simple. its expensive though. the department i work for has money so we have coldfusion.

what do you mean by expensive? are you infering that you need some expensive program to understand the cold fusion code?

i'm readin PHP right now, from what i see, i like it. it's very much like C++ but things start with $. x is now $x
the classes and functions are something i don't get though, the book doesn't explain what they are exactly.......

coldfusion code is interpreted by coldfusion server. thats what costs money. everything you need software-wise is free to run php.
