Web Proxy Question...

A few friends of mine recently complained about not having access to a large variety of sites on the internet (ign.com, portent, among others) due to their Nazi web proxy permissions. Is there any way to legally (or just a LITTLE bit illegally) circumvent the proxy or redirect the traffic so they can gain access to the web sites they want to view?

The goal isn't to harm the company network in any way, just to get some more surfing in. Anything I can look into, or is there somewhere I should start? Thanks.

They should talk to the NAZIs in the IT room and demand that between throwing Jews in the furnace they should open those sites so they can waste company time!

There is absolutely no good reason for a company to block any sites on the internet. Not only does it throw the accounting dept off when calculating wasted time, internet access bills, etc; but it also screws up management in figuring out dead lines and time frames for projects. Think of all the time and money that is being saved when employees actually do work! Its atrocious!

Ok, here you go. Have them write up an intelligent document on the benefits of not blocking those sites. When they provide a well written document (not the 3rd grade quality crap most people are used to writing, like this right here ) detailing the benefits to the company in the areas of: money gained and time saved (the two big ones I can think of) the IT dept will be much more likely to unblock those sites. Without information like this, the IT dept is going to assume your idiot friends (this assumption is mostly based on the fact that your friend drew some kind of corolation between a Socialist economic party and the blocking of non-work related websites) are just wasting time and continue to block the sites.

Grow up. Apologize. Go away.

B) refrain from threadcrapping when you have nothing to add
C) take your own advice and go away somewhere and meditate on why it is a post asking for a solution gets such a rise out of you that you feel the need to insult people that you don't even know
D) all of the above (but mostly C... and A... definitely A... maybe a few bran muffins would help)

I don't see how I'm in the wrong for using a figure of speech, but if it makes you feel better, I apologize for somehow insulting you.

As for economics, I don't remember mentioning or alluding to it anywhere in my post, but since you seem to be a leading authority on ethics, economics, the Socialist party system, and all manner of other topics (other than web proxys) I concede, salute, and applaud you.

I simply asked for help so I could help some friends read some game reviews in his offtime/lunch break/slow periods.
