"Everybody eventually get a Weber" don't you know?
Have owned two of the cheaper $150 gas grill and they rust out and fall apart after 2-3 years. Sprung for a $375 gas Weber 5 years ago and it's still good as new when cleaned up plus even cooking across the cooking area, no hot spots unlike the cheaper stuff. Excellent quality built.

We've had a cast iron grill in the family for about 15 years now. Not a single problem at all. Wash it down with the power washer and it looks brand new.

It's a bastard to move though.

Weber grills are solid, yes expensive but I won mine in a contest- so like driving a Kia or driving a BMW what's the difference?

Someone in our neighborhood was throwing away a somewhat small Weber charcoal grill. We checked it out, looks like one of the wheels was broken and they bent one of the legs trying to disassemble it. We hijacked it back to our place, and in ten minutes my gf had it good as new. Free grill FTW!

We actually have 2 - a full-sized Weber kettle for when we have company or we have something big to cook (roast, turkey, stuff like that), and then we have a much smaller Smokey Joe. That thing is excellent for doing steaks and other small stuff where we don't need the big grill.

Bottom line, charcoal grills are ghetto, no offense to the poor.

And the flavor with charcoal is WORSE imo than gas with ceramic brickettes.

Is there really that much of difference between the 50 walmart or 75 Char-Broil grill and the webber? On top of that, they are small! I paid 120 for my char-broil propane grill. A propane from webber that is about the same size is well over 300??? what is the deal? Someone please tell me how these people make money. Is there really THAT much of a difference in grill design? O_O I must be a total outdoor grilling newb.
Well, my father's Weber is 20+ years old and has never needed anything replaced. The Walmart and CharBroil grills I've seen have been falling apart after 2-3 years. Also, $200 for a charcoal Weber? What are you smoking? I paid $60 for my 22-1/2 inch diameter Weber One-Touch.

That's because most of the flavor that charcoal imparts on to the meat are carcinogens.

Ya get what ya pay for. If you do any amount of grilling, you'll find the differences.

Gimme the cancer and the flavor then. Bought a nice gas grill, gave it away and bought another charcoal.

I bought a house last year and have been looking to buy a grill for awhile, now, but keep putting it off. I was leaning towards a Weber, but the price was making me consider something less. I figured I'd end up with a Walmart special, but I think I'll hold out and get the Weber now. It's what I wanted, anyway, so I guess it's just logical, anyway

Even carcinogens aside, flavor is better from smoked juices than charcoal ash. To each ghetto his own tho.

Beyond that charcoal grills are way too much of a pia to use regularly.

okay, so now I'm window shopping at home depot and I found that they have 2 types of gas grills: natural gas and Liquid propane. I never realized they offered a natural gas model--so which would I want? I am a total grilling Noob.

I assume I want the LP model so I can just refill the tank and go. But maybe I'm wrong? Any advice?

Yes there really is that much difference.

Now on the gas grill side, weber is on the low end of a good grill.

You want the one that fits your situation. If you've got a natural gas hook-up near the grilling spot, use that. If not, or if you want the grill portable (move it around), get the propane.
