This recently started happening for no reason at all. Two days ago I tried using my webcam on MSN Messenger and it caused the client to hang and freeze up. Trying to close it was impossible because it refused to, and for some reason it would then show in the Processes menu that TWO instances were running. My PC wouldn't even shut down afterwards. Same thing happens when someone tries to send me a webcam feed, though SOMETIMES it gets through okay. Reinstalling drivers for the video card, webcam and upgrading MSN Messenger didn't fix the problem at all. Interestingly enough, when this happened, Windows started showing random icons in place of Photoshop's PSD files on my system, but only on the desktop.
I use a Logitech ClickSmart 310 webcam, WinXP Pro and A Radeon 9700 Pro. Anyone have any clue what I can do about this?
