WebPage experts: Help?

I'm pretty good with webpages and stuff, but I'm kinda confused with this. I was messing around, and one of my friends asked me if I knew how to do this. Create forms on a webpage (can do that easy) but then when the user clicks a button, it transports the data over to Access or excel.

She's pretty close, and I wanna help her, but I'm stumped. The main problems is I never even used access before, so thats a bummer. I can barely use excel too. Any help would be really appreciated.

access or excel? access wouldn't be too hard... you'd need to find a host that supports databases and some sort of scripting langauge like asp or php. then just use sql to submit data for the database. for excel... i'm sure there is some way to do this using asp or php, but i don't know how. try any of these sites: phpbuilder.net, zend.net, learnasp.com

For Access just use a host that supports MySQL, use a PHP script to submit the data to the database. I dunno about Excel.

Umm... in simpler, idiot language please? I'm new to this database stuff. I'm more of a web designer (photoshop) guy.

ExcellWriter Component from SoftwareArtisans will let you create Ecxell documents on the Server-side. Need an asp-enabled hosting solution that lets you register custom .dll's
Access would be simpler. Still need asp support.

I'm actually working on a project like that right now. I have to set up a webpage to allow users to enter data, hit the "insert record" button, and then the data goes into an access database. You need to set up an ASP. You can use a program such as Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev. It has a wizard thingy which lets you set up a form by telling it the location of the access database, and your pretty much good to go. Also, if you are gonna host it on an intranet you can use PWS (personal web server), which works great with ASP.

Use the ODBC driver for Excel and write to it like that. I've never done it, but I've seen it done. Nothing a little VBScript can't take care of. Also, check out MSDN for a ton of info on programming for Microsoft applications.
