Website Buildng Software

I'm looking to get some opinions on website building software. Now, keep in mind I'm a dope who has no understanding of HTML, and I have never so much as built a single page of a website.
But, I keep seeing programs available, some inexpensive ones, that claim no knowledge of code is required. Simply drop and drag and you, too, can build a professional site.
Any opinions?

Dreamweaver, HotDog Pro and FrontPage are good WYSIWYG editors in order of ease of use.

I like Homesite but it requires HTML knowledge. Learning HTML is easier to do than struggle with a WYSIWYG editor unless you just want to simply stick up a simple page with pictures.

I sure hope you don't expect to produce a "professional" looking site without knowledge of HTML. :Q

It's possible. You just won't be able to customize as well from templates without knowing HTML. Adobe GoLive has some VERY professional templates and is another good WYSIWYG tool. Dreamweaver and GoLive are the best in my view. I use CFStudio/Homesite+ myself. Great tools that help with all coding aspects from managing/modifying local/remote files... extremely powerful non-WYSIWYG editors. Still, you really should try and pick up HTML. It's extremely easy to learn and sites like Webmonkey and HTMLGoodies are great starting points.

Nonsense my friend, give me Photoshop and Dreamweaver and I'll make you one heck of a pro website without touching a single HTML tag by hand!

Carbo, I'd say Dreamweaver is the best, but I think Frontpage is much cheaper and easier to use.

I recommend either Go-Live or Frontpage. Both are very good programs but Frontpage is a bit cheaper. Go-Live is a better product though...

FrontPage is HORRIBLE! It destroys any hope of having valid HTML.

Use Dreamweaver for a while, and start learning to code by hand.

I'd reccomend Macromedia Homesite too, and if ya dont have the money for it, go get VIM or PHPEdit
