Website Host Needed

I'm not pleased with my current host and I'm looking for another company.
I have two domains, businesses that require reliability and speed. My present host offers lots of bandwidth and disk space, and at a good price, too. Problem is my email and site are slow. Yeah, I contacted support about this but they have a hell of an attitude. I guess I interfered with someone's break. In fact, I was told I could move myself to a new server if I wasn't pleased.
Bottom line: who do you recommend these days?
Rossman any where to be found??

Remember, you get what you pay for, and that doesn't mean you have to pay a lot, it just means choosing wisely.

Sales and support should never have this attitude, unless the customer is being abusive.

I recommend choosing quality over price otherwise you'll find yourself doing the "web host hop" every 4-6 months. I've been with my two favorite web hosts for over 3 years now and they're still rock solid reliable and friendly as the day I signed up.

1) What's your realistic budget?
2) Who is your current web host?
3) Do you have any preference of control panel, DirectAdmin, cPanel, Plesk, H Sphere?
4) How much disk space and bandwidth do you actually use (not how much it would be "nice to have") but actual usage.

Please feel free to reply in this thread, PM me or call me.

Judge for yourself (post number eight in link below)... Our site has had many problems with HostPC, the latest driving us away and seeking another company.

http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?showtopic=8359

The latest fiasco was they made us move to another server, we changed nothing in the scripting/software, all of a sudden problems started to develop and our site was taken off-line. Read how they stated it was one problem, then later decided it was another.

We were well within our bandwidth limits and had no problems with any of our software or scirpting before they made us change servers.

It's our opinion that they most likely misconfigured this server...

Has Dan considered a VPS? Do you know if he's still looking for a better web host?

Rossman;

As a long time member of anandtech I wanted him to contact you for a solution, but he has already found a new hosting site.

Thanks for your reply though (I was even thinking about calling that phone number in your signature).

I'm glad you didn't call because it's clearly a prank and it goes to a local strip club Shh.

which server were you on out of curiosity? But if you went through all that, I can see why you'd want to leave. It could quite possibly that I'm only on the $35/yr plan, so it's not like I expect much. But the support requests/questions I've put in have been always been prompt.

But yes, their whole billing system before was terrible. Now it's a little better. But it's definitely as streamlined as it could be.

RossMAN,
Imagine, 70,000 POSTS!
What do you do with the spare minute you have every other week or so? ;-)

Is this reasonable or should it even be considered?

Bottom line: who do you recommend these days?

Sales and support should never have this attitude, unless the customer is being abusive.

1) What's your realistic budget? High quality & reasonable pricing.
Hostica was great for years but a little more expensive than many others.
2) Who is your current web host?
aplus.net is about $50/month (Out of the question.)

Seriously. And the RossMAN has already moved on to greater things, trying to stop the LHC from producing a resonance cascade.
