amazing how many guys I see wearing the same amazon ring - me too buddy. I actually have 2 because I lost my first one the day after we got married and found it again a week later.

Fucking stupid rings... Originally got a nice palladium ring, rang up around $800 or so.... lost it on a business trip where it was much colder than where I normally live and it shrieked my fingers to the point where it must have unknowingly fell off...

In the meantime I got a cheap cracker-jack box ring at some gift shop for $5, and now no matter how hard I try I can't lose it

Justice of the peace and few friends. Meet up at the bar later with lots of money left in the bank.

Yep. If cost is REALLY an issue, have a small wedding with a justice of the peace and a small, informal reception later.

The first of my buddies to get married paid $9k for the ring & $25k for the wedding. Was making barely above minimum at the time. Doesn't make sense to me to start out a marriage in debt...$25k is a down payment on a house!

On the flip side, pretty much every girl out there has been dreaming about their wedding day since they were kids, so good luck!

I think I wanted a fancier wedding than my wife. We ended up spending about $80K on our wedding which included over 500 guests at a private country club. Today I make a lot more than I used to, so I cringe at where we cut corners back then.

I did save quite a bit by flying out to Tiffany's in Portland to buy our rings because they don't charge sales tax. We also handmade our invitations.

Yeah, but were you making $7.50 an hour at the time?

Welp my nightmare has come true: The mom wants us to have a Saturday wedding because "people might not want to come on a Friday" despite the fact plates are now $30 more expensive for that day. She's willing to pay the difference, too... so we pretty much have no choice.

It's just so sad to me.. Such a waste of money. Can't tell if mom is living out her wedding she never had thru my fiance, or if because this is her only daughter she's all proud and wants to toss some giant rager in our honor.

Either way looks like I'm having about a $20k wedding. Yeehaw...

There's a small chance we pick the cheaper of the two venues we checked out to save money, but if she's footing the entirety of the difference in Fri vs Sat plate cost, what's the point? One venue is $99 a plate, the other is $127 (On a Sat) but the $127 is much nicer. More food, better food, nicer rooms.. etc. The biggest downside though and may push my fiance from wanting the cheaper place is the rooms where we both get ready. Expensive place has like a small cave with no windows for her, and no place for me to get dressed. Cheaper place has a fairly nice large room with big sky lights, and a tiny little man cave room with couches, fridge and TV for me. Plus, the cheap place is a country club, so free golf for me all day long... I may try to push for the cheaper one... but still get mommers to toss us more $$$ to stash away for a house.

Sigh...All I really wanted wash to just elope in some courthouse then have a little party after. Spend a few grand. Why people gotta make this so complicated!?

Many people face this type of issues regarding wedding planning. Because everyone wants to arrange their event in the budget. There are many Redaction that wouldn't have been needed made necessary organizations which offer wedding decor rentals at affordable prices. So get in touch with one of them.

Thanks for bumping a 2 year old thread with your spam.

So is Z1ggy shopping for second marriage?

Already after only 2017?!

Reading his last post just brought back tons of memories of all that fun shit of wedding shopping. The worst part is that as the guy I just legitimately didn't care much about anything so I was always annoyed when asked for my opinion heh. What kind of flowers? Don't care. What kind of decorations? Don't care.

I will give input on food and drink however

Which on that note, still glad we went the way we did for our wedding. Just rented out a lakehouse with a nice view. No restrictions on food. No $XX/person/plate charges. No "You have to choose between these vendors" restrictions.

Hey, did Indy colt ever find his?

Well, thanks to the necro bump, I just did. I didn’t realize my commentary on weddings was so sought after here. However, I’ve read many comments here which agree with what I would’ve said, so for future kids wondering the same thing:

Don’t spend tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding. It’s a stupid and almost criminal waste of money and let’s face it - girls want big weddings to compete with their friends and for the ego boost. The wife and I rented the Indiana statehouse, invited 20 people, and had a reception at a local hotel with meals and open bar and we did all that for under $5K which also included the wedding cake, flowers, photographer, and a few other things. And believe me, I thought $5K was too much but her parents gave her the money. When we first started discussing the wedding and who was going to pay, all I had to say was “If I pay for it, I plan it” and the discussion was pretty much over.

Instead of spending tens of thousands on a wedding and reception which will last a few hours, put the money towards a home, student loans, or if those are taken care of, a nice honeymoon or - gasp! - save it for the future.
